View Full Version : A tale of 2 triggers....

I have 2 G7 Fly's. One 90 and one 45. The problem is that the 90 trigger action is the greatest, the pull is just right, specifically the smoothness and consistency of the return strength during the entire range of the stroke. This results in a very fast and fun ride when firing.
The 45 on the other hand cannot seem to be in any stroke "smoothness and consistency of return strength" mode other than either the front screw ( Magnet) too tight or too loose, no happy medium. I'll try to explain more:
The trigger on 45 is either too loose and "mushy" or it gets to feel like a snap action with way too stiff initial pull strength needed to start pulling, followed by a sort of cam-over effect at the mid to end of the stroke. Is there perhaps something different about setting the trigger of a 90 vs a 45 ? Or perhaps the 45 is missing some part the 90 has or vice versa. The 90 action is like it has the perfect amount of resistance evenly throughout the entire range of stroke, forward and return. It's not too loose to start pulling that it is hairlike, and has an adequate amount of travel on both ends, they both do. The 90 has no " Camover-like" Snap action effect like the 45 , yet it has enough return force to be perfect throughout the stroke. Please indulge me if you have any ideas how I might bring the 45 trigger action closer to the Nirvana that is the 90 trigger action. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried removing the triggers from the grip frame to see how they compare on just their bearings? This is a long shot, but maybe there might be some dirt or other debris in the trigger's bearing that does not seem smooth? If you remove the trigger and hold it from the two pins, you should be able to see how easily they swing on their own.

Thanks, I will play with them both on Saturday, Then after during teardown/ cleaning I will remove/compare both triggers from their frames. I just wish I could find the words to convey the experience with trying to set this trigger on the 45. They seem inadequate to express it. The 90 is like an entirely different league or brand of gun even, it's that different.

Anyway, thanks.

Bingo!!!! The 45 trigger does not roll smoothly at all on it's bearing. The 90 does spin freely round and round and round. So do I need to buy a new 45 trigger or can I replace the bearing? Both of these are less than a year old, why would this bearing be shot like that? I clean and lube these meticulously and without fail every time I shoot them.

Yes the bearings are replaceable. Trick is to find them though. They are metric sized. Can't remember the exact dimensions presently. You will need some locktite when you put the new ones in to keep it assembled. You also want to use sealed bearings, it will keep the fine grit from getting into the race of the bearings.
