View Full Version : Air system/marker setup... What do you think?

Hey everyone. I've got a question to anyone who has some experience with this sort of thing. My current idea of what my setup is going to be is I'm going to use a LP Maxflow tank (68/4500) run straight through the gutted minireg, so the minireg acts as a gas-through grip. People have done this before with IR3s and LCDs with no ill effects as far as I can tell. Have any of you heard differently?

Do you think I'd be better off doing this or ordering all the parts to make my LP Maxflow into a HP? The LP will put out probably ~350-400 psi with the heavier spring, which would be about right from what I can tell so far.

If I ran through the standard minireg setup, I'd need the HP Maxflow mods, but since Maxflows are so consistent as it is, I think I can bypass the minireg without fear of nasty spikes and such as long as I keep the maxflow well-maintained. What do you guys think?

look below on th list at Dinger's thread.

honestly with this marker operating at the Low Pressure that it's being advertised you should be able to run a gas thru and be more than okay.

So, you don't think (as you've mentioned in the past) that running straight from the maxflow to the marker is dangerous and could screw things up badly enough to do some serious damage? (Worried about killing my [soon to be] baby.)

You will get minimal if any performance increase out of gutting the minireg, and you risk serious damage to your marker should your tank reg fail. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Would it cause excessive shootdown if, say, I ran the tank to the minireg, which was set to regulate, oh, 50 psi above the output of the maxflow in case of a spike?

Or, am I just worrying too much and need to chill, while also running my tank straight to the marker? Theoretically, the LP Maxflow can only go up to moderate pressures and would probably go through a burst-disk before it got up high enough to do serious damage.

a reg spike will still cause serious damage to your marker should you choose to gut the minireg, that's no different.....however if you desire to get to the 150 psi that Rodney was refering to in the video at FON you're probably going to have to run a gas through. Personally I'd never gut the minireg or run a gas thru instead of a reg.
