I work at a paintball shop (Sometimes, depending on if me and my girlfriend who owns the place are fighting) and have notice how woodsball is coming back in favor. It seems nowadays everyone wants camo stuff, or Olive guns, or Mil-spec stuff. I even picked up a new copy of "Facefull" the 07 gear guide edtion, and they had two magazines, one for tournament players, and one for scenario ball. Even some of the tournament stuff is going woodsball. I've been seeing more Camo hoppers, clothing (Which I might have to add, I've got a pair of Camo JT Pants), packs, etc.... You name it. Anyone else notice this trend? Whats your guys thoughts?

Hey J., well to add to your thread, my speedball team is now planning a out of town trip to do some Big Game Scenarios just for fun. I think woodsball games will alway be there for the beginners because they can take a few of their friend and go to any woods to play. The one thing I do see is how Big Games are getting more notoriety than before.

The tide comes in...the tide goes out. I wished I still had all of my bellbottom jeans from the first time. I am glad to know that the "woodsies" are keeping it alive. Heck, the change of pace can be a good thing.

i change it up every couple of years. play speedball and get burnt out then go play woods till i get the itch to go balls out again. but i did notice how alot of tourney gear is getting into camo designs. it might be just cause a majority of players start out in the woods. even after you make the change to speedball its hard to forget where you came from.

That's where I started at, Woodsball at North Jersey and Newburgh. I always found the "little town" my favorite. then the long break and then Speedball! But I'll always remeber those days with the VM-68 and that 20 inch barrel. it was fun!

nahm, the thing that brought the camo back was ollie and his sandana. all the little kids wantto be "agg" and they bought camo to be cool. and by buying camo it starts a trend that camo is awesome. andf then companys catch on and start producing it cause it sells, and then people that hate camo start a new trend like snow camo, then its "agg" cause every little §§§§ with their pe ego5 that thinks its the hottest §§§§ out there when it can be outshot by some defiants.

Around here there is little love for speedball. Lots of scenario ball. I love woodsball cause its great fun but I don't dig scenario ball. I love going to big games though, its so fun cause there's so many people to shoot out.

I had a blast last time I went to a big game. My typically speedball guns weren't running because of work I was doing to them earlier, so I played with my pumps, the only guns I didn't bring with me that time were my most reliable guns, my upped 98's. So instead I rented a 98 put hpa and a good hopper on it along with a barrel kit and still shot out dozens and dozens of people. I got shot once, it was a questionable hit but I still called my self out.

Big games are always enjoyable.

Scenario/woodsball is very appealing to people so its obvious my there growing even more.

I gotta agree with Crownsk8er. The camo stuff is mostly a trend, especially with the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

As far as the woodsball goes it's easier for most people to get into the woodsball. It's more convenient, costs less, and is not as intimidating to them. A lot of the woodsball only players don't like the intensity of speedball. It's too fast for them. I've found that some of the kids don't like the "pain" involved with speedball either. And all they have to do is play in the woods someplace. They don't need to have an organized field with inflatable bunkers and an air source.

At the field I regularly played at in Virginia they alternated between speedball and woodsball games so I started playing woodsball too just so I could play more. If there aren't many people at a field they always want to play woodsball. Everybody from work played woodsball too so if I wanted to play with them I had to play woodsball too. That's why I picked up a Phantom. It makes it a little more challenging.

I've also noticed that some of the woodsball fields will have an area that resembles a speedball field in the woods. It'll just be made of huge wooden spools, plywood, tires, or something like that.

hell my first gun ever was a tippmann 98c that i upped to no end lol, woodsball is where it all began! Im a little bit upset that i did sell that tippmann, it was mad fast for a mech gun. As Punch said, a lot of people dont like the intensity that speedball has after coming from playing woodsball. I at first wasnt a fan of speedball, but then came to realize after playing with a faster gun that its actually more fun to me. I think its a passing tide that comes and goes every now and then. Who knows what style of paintball is next lol, multiple floor paintball? Airstrike paintball? ....we are the makers of our own madness lol.

they already have multi level paintball in kuala lumpor, malasia. the field is a 4 story parking structure that went out of buisness.

this is just basic economics....tourny ball has maxed its life out. You can't keep pushing such a small market and hope to make big returns. Now they focus on the woodsball people and the couple times a yr people. It is a fairly untapped market but a HUGE part of paintball. The field i work at is almost all bachleor parties....we have tourny ball and open play but no one really ever shows. Gotta cater to the cash.

Untapped market though? Perhaps it's regional. The local paintball store here in Columbus has 3 scenario guns on the wall for every speedball gun. Big heavy crazy modified Ben Tippmann things. They look awful too me.

I'll play some woodsball occasionally, big games too. I mow camouflaged faces with my Angel though :devil1:

I like to play a "big scenario" game every once in awhile. It's fun to mix things up. Can't forget where I started!

Speaking of woodsball, look what I found. A competition that is broadcast through the net.

Camo is not only making a come back in paintball. It's in the clothing stores too. Sears, Pennys, Belks, Wal Mart, K Mart, etc. all have some kind of camo pants or shorts for everyday wear.

Why? I like it, but why is it in the stores for regular everyday clothing?

i used to wear camo pants/shirts all teh time. Some people just like it, some people just wear it because it's a " base line" to some people. ( like a neuatral color so to say)
If that made anysense lol.
