Did anyone in LA just hear that long string of loud ass bangs/explosions?

Im in Santa Monica/West LA and I just heard a string of really loud bangs for almost a minute and all my friends in palisades and brentwood heard it too.
Anyone have any idea what it was?

No idea, but friends I talked to who live 20 minutes away heard it also.

Well West LA is one of the safest parts of LA, its just the rest of it that gives it a bad name :)

Yeah I know, im just saying West LA isnt as bad as the rest.
Some family moved out here from Florida, they happened to come in late 91 just before the big earthquake in 92, they ended up leaving later in April because of the riots, saying they would never come back, and they havent.
I guess we scared em off pretty good :) they wont even visit.

hmm I got my shiat pretty mixed up then...
I know they were here from dec 91 to apr 92, so I guess they missed the EQ, left just after my sister was born.
They always said the reason they wont come out again is because they are afraid of the earthquakes (i dont think they have ever experienced one then?) so maybe thats why I thought that.
I would think a hurricane is worse, but oh well.
