Just got my A1 the other day, set it all to the recommended joy/rage settings, tested it out, and DAMN I love this marker. Problem kicked in after the inital testing when I updated the software from 1.8 to 2.1, when testing, or attempting to test I'm getting random eye errors, detecting balls in the breach when there are none, and occaisionally not detecting a ball in the breech when there is one(laser is on, ball in perfect position to be detected). This is not constant, maybe every few dozen shots or so, but is rather unnerving. Have a huge tourney at the end of the month and can't afford a faulty marker. Any tips/ideas?
P.S. the initial testing was only 200 shots, all with very clean reballs, so I can't see the eyes being dirty or anything like that, they appear clean, detents are in good shape, and using joy/rage settings.

I'd have to say that its the reballs... have you tried it with paint?

Yeah, tried mine with paint, still have the same issues. Not sure if it's the eye logic or the eyes themselves. Kinda pissing me off.

Well still no fix for this isssue. Tried reflashing the software, took out and replaced the eyes, still not detecting paint, although it is happening more frequently now. Having to play the nationals this weekend with no eyes is not exactly what I had in mind when I spent 1400 on this marker.

You took out the eyes and cleaned them? Then you replaced them with the same ones, or you purchased new eyes? Is the ribbon torn or pinched anywhere. Make sure they the connections are tight in the board. Use new battery and try again.

If you reflashed the software, changed eyes is it not obvious its either the connection to the board or the board itself?
Genius I swear to god. Talk to a master tech if you can't figure that out by yourself.

try new detents....
i'm guessing the detents are tearing at the base, but not all the way. this makes them look good but they really aren't.
every one having eye problems should take their detents out and look at them. move the nub back and forth and see if it's torn at the base...... If every one with eye problems has bad detents, maybe we've found our problem??
or i'm wronge...

not a software issue but re install 1.8 until we give you the fix. this will solve it until then. more to follow

Bravo.
Detents are perfect, brand new, well inspected, eyes are new as well, ribbon is in great shape, eyes work perfectly on my 2nd A1(yes I have 2), haven't replaced the board yet, was hoping to avoid that. Funny that this went a week or more with no response until I mentioned regret in purchasing the A1. Odd.
In any case, eye problem or no I still love this marker. Would take it to any tourny with or without problems cuz it still rips regardless.

Amazingly, now back on v1.9 software my eyes are working just fine. Go figure.
In any case I ended up playing the MR Speedball Championships in Calgary this past weekend with v2.1 and the eyes failed on 4 different occaisions. Only got me eliminated once, as I had time to turn the eyes off and recover the other times, luckily. My 2nd A1 being used by my fiance also had faulty eyes in the last game of the day, got her taken out.

From what I understand, the 2.1 and 6.5 dwell settings are pushing the original spec limits for the solenoid and possibly other parts. There is no doubt that the A1 rips with these settings (when all is well). Most guns/solenoids have no problem at all with this software revision and/or dwell setting. Mine did. It would work fine on 1.9 but not 2.1. I sent it off to KC after experiencing this eye problem and it came back singing (with a new solenoid).
I believe that once all the lazy solenoids, bolts etc. are identified and replaced we will have a stable hardware platform for future bleeding edge software revisions. I'm AOK with WDP "overclocking" the A1 as long as we get the support/answers we need without the BS we have all grown accustomed to from other manufacturers.
I love my A1.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my A1 too, the marker is the best I've had, but this problem is momentary, and is a pain when in the middle of semi-finals. I have to correct my last post though, I thought the software change fixed the issue, as I went through about 500 shots without an eye issue, but at practice today it happened again. So apparently it's not a software issue afterall, just an eye issue.

That's the plan. Sending it to Badlands here in Canada, as soon as they get back to me anyway.
