First off, I would like to thank all those who will respond to this question.
I have a dark G7 and I noticed that inside the breech it appears that the bolt is gouging the metal. I have a few small gouges in the breech now, and I was wondering if I should 1. replace the bolt with a new one, or 2. start using some sort of lubrication on the bolt. :dunno:
I've never had this problem as the bolt is self lubricating, however, I don't want to run into a much bigger problem later. So any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

1. Do not lube the bolt.
2. What do you mean by gouging the metal? Do you mean wearing it down? Or is it actually causing major wear in the breech? Pictures are a plus and will make it easier for us to decipher the problem.
Thanks.

Here are some pictures of the breech. As you can see it appears it is gouging the inside of the breech. I guess is this normal, or should I be looking at purchasing a new bolt? Thanks for all your help guys!:nervous:

That looks like extensive breech wear. Did buy it used if not how much did you use it?

I bought it used. The owner said the gun was in great shape. I didn't see the scratches in it until after the gun came to me. I guess I should maybe purchase a new bolt?

That won't help a whole lot. Is it affecting the performance if so I would say go ahead and replace it.

Well it doesn't appear to be affecting the performance, however, I dont want to make the problem any worse. I also looked at the bolt, and it is pretty gouged up as well. So I'm thinking I'll just go ahead and buy a new one. Hopefully this will stem a little of the problem. I think the guy who owned this was shooting dirt through it!!!!

When the breech is closed and the breech lever closed.
Does the breech feel loose ?
ie..a lot of play

theres probably like 80000 shots on that marker. even plastic will wear down metal if you rub it enough. my jd a4fly looks like that but it shoots flawless.

It's usually not the bolt wearing down the metal/anno. It's dirt that gets between the bolt and the gun.

Well thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it alot. I will just have to make sure that I don't shoot buckets of dirt like this guy did!!! :pissed: Oh well I think I will purchase a new bolt then. I've heard the new designz bolts are nice, are they that much better than the soft face bolt that comes with the gun?:dunno: :

Go with the DEZign custom bolt. NOT to be confused with New Designz.
Here is the website: http://www.geocities.com/dezignbolts/
Those are more durable then stock and allow a 25+ FPS increase over stock. I would also buy a set of those detents too. I have both (bolt and detents) and both are still in excellent shape( very little wear) after about 20+ cases.

This guy speaks the truth! DEZign or stock is the only way to go.

Go DEZign!
The wear in the breech just looks like ano wear. Unless you can feel grooves when you run your fingernail over it, it's nothing to worry about.

Dez bolts don't seem to wear, at all.
