new and old serial numbers

I keep reading about older A1s suffer from more problems than the newer ones,which makes total sense.
Whats the serial numbers for the older vs the newer guns?
Or how is there a way to tell the difference just from looking at at used one?

I believe WDP applied all the big updates at around #1000 or so.
