Lately, I've been hearing more things going wrong with the A1 than things good. Lately all people have been saying is, "I have this problem," or "my angel 1 has that problem too," and "plz help me fix my angel!"
I've always wanted an angel and thought since I was in sixth grade, when it first came out, that the angel was the best gun ever. I've always wanted one, but now when I actually have the money needed to purchase my angel, I hear all these terrible setbacks. 1,250 dollars is a lot of money. I'm only a junior in High school, making six dollars an hour working at a movie store. It took me four whole months to raise this money, and now my brother has me nearly convinced that I should by an...an... ... *shudder* ego....*shudder...
Please BOB, or someone! Are the problems really this abundant? And if so, why? What can I do to prevent these problems, and most importantly, what are the reasons that I should by and keep my angel 1?
-PLEASE! I'm feeling hopeless and alone on this.

Prevalent sensitivity, you're reading forums that have generally evolved into a way to get help directly from the people most qualified, WDP certified fixers. So people post problems looking for solutions, ergo, distorted sense of problems with A1. Not many threads of "My A1 is working fine", Mine too, Mine too etc.
I've never had a problem with my IR3 or new A1

I have owned 10 Angels in the last 7 years and everything was fine until my 2 recent A1 purchases. There were problems with both of them. Also I have been a member of AOG for several years and the number of A1 problems is definitely more than with previous Angels. That being said...they do come with a warranty so whatever problems you may have would be taken care of. Newer production models have improvements....and a properly functioning A1 is an AWESOME marker. Buying from an MT is a good idea as they back their products.
Of course if I made $6 an hour I would not spend that kind of money on a marker. 4 months savings is a alot for a marker. Luckily for me an Angel cost me about one 2-week paycheck. Let this be a lesson to you youngsters here....education pays.

Yep I ended up getting frustrated with hearing all the problems, and not any real "Here's the solution to your problem" fixes. So I boxed mine up and shipped it back to Bob. There is a serious problem with quality control on this new line of guns, and rather than getting a new gun ready for release, they should finish the job they started with the A1s. I love the feel of my A1 and the weight, but if it doesnt work, it doesn't matter how light it is. Like Tony said, make sure you buy from an MT based in the US. It'll make things a lot easier.

im going to be totaly honest, the ego7 looks like a nice gun...
BUT...overall i have really been liking my angel 1. i have had very few problems and most of them i have been able to fix myself.
yet let me remind you that most people come to these forums seeking help, so you mostly see people with problems here.
I'd say a1 or ego7.....

Why not get a G7 or a GAT? half the cost. Save some of your money for paint. Or buy used, I've seen A1's go for $850 already. If you arent making alot yet, why drop all your hard earned cash for something that will lose it's value quickly. Don't buy into the hype of the industry (not trying to knock the A1 here).

I agree, the resale value of A1s is not too great, if you decide to go with the a1, buy a used one!

I have played paintball for over a decade (half of that in tournaments) and I have found one thing to be true: if you buy a product when it first comes out, you are going to have problems with it. Trust me, I have learned this lesson the hard way. I wanted an A1 when they first came out but had enough wisdom to wait for them to iron out all of the kinks. I bought one last month before I went to world cup and have put 14000 shots on her without one single problem. Yeah, you're going to get a lemon every now and then, but I think most of the people having trouble own an earlier model or have created the problem themselves. The new ones seem to be flawless. My team is WDP sponsered and all of us shoot them without any problems. I love my A1 and (this is personal opinion) like it better than the new ego. The ego is a great marker, but I don't think it is the A1's equivalent. Bottom line, don't make your decision based on problems that people post on the forums. The A1 is the way to go.

Houck is right. Initial runs always have problems, not just markers. We all love these angel markers though. Yes, we are a WDP sponsored team, but that only happenned a week ago. Almost all of us were already shooting angels and loving them. The truth is, all of these high end manufacturers make a great marker. Personal preference is really the only determining factor. The reason I stay with WDP is the quality and customer service. My G7 and both of my A1s are very sweet and I have had next to zero problems..or fixed them quite easily. Now if your funds are limited, why not pick up a used G7 Fly or a GAT. Half the price and great performance. Then later on down the road you can always upgrade after you decide from experience that an Angel is your marker preferance.
Hope this helps aid you in your decision.

The best way to deal with new angel is to buy them 4-5 months into production and if you want any real resale value, start thinking about selling it when the first rumors leak out of WDP about a new gun. You will want a back-up gun in this scenario.
Otherwise, if you buy a nib angel, keep if forever because resale value on angels are terrible. That doesn't mean don't buy them because they are, in my opinion, the best guns out there.
By the way, I am also about to buy an A1 after many months of saving!!

i would go wiht the a1.
i got mine yesterday and out of the box it came with the newer eye covers, better orange colored detents, and lighter hammer. as seen here. http://www.wdp.tv/newsupdate/281106-update/281106-updates.html
so out of the box mine came with the updated stuff already in it.
and if you notice, almost all of the "help me" and "a1 problem" threads are about the older detents, eye covers, and such.
the only thing that i dont like about my a1 is that when im just clicking the solenoid without any air i cant hardly hear the solenoid because the trigger is loud. i would go for the a1 if it were my choice.

Hold on, the Angel came out when you were in sixth grade and you are just now a junior in high school? How many years did you repeat?!
IIRC the LED came out in 98. I was playing paintball with technix2002 on here long before that and I remember being really impressed with his LED. It was the first electro I played with.
I have 2 recommendations:
1. Spend your money on paint. Having the best Angel or Ego on the market sitting at home because you can't afford to buy a couple of cases of paint for the day will never make you a good player. Buy a marker that will still allow you to go play a LOT. That will make you a good player. As geekwarrior81 suggested, do buy an Angel, but there are some great used Angels available cheaper.
2. If you do buy a new marker, buy it from a Mastertech. They do a lot for us here at Angelowners. Their prices are competitive, but even if you have a hookup where you can buy below retail, you should STILL buy it from a Mastertech, the service is worth it.

Me and Tgallo both have Gen 2 Angel Ones, I think except for a barrel problem his is working alright. Mine started off by having malfunctioning eyes, and then when I updated to 2.1 my dwell had to be raised to above 11 to even get it to fire. Thank god for FMA warranty.
Persuade me! Please BOB!

Focus your attention on the very center of the spiral. Repeat after me "I want an angel, I need an Angel, I must have an angel" relax the focus of your vision.... Repeat after me "I want an angel, I need an Angel, I must have an angel" allow the spiral to come out of the screen...continue to stare without moving your eyes...... Repeat after me "I want an angel, I need an Angel, I must have an angel"

As already stated, obviously people are mainly posting issues, to get feedback on other Angel owners. Yes some have issues, all paintball guns do, i don't care what marker you buy, they will all have problems on their own, and by part because the owner may not take care of it properly. I bought my Angel1 early in August, they hadn't been out very long (July i think? Sorry not 100% sure). The only problem i have encountered was the breach would not seal while playing one day and it would shoot twice then leak then seal itself and shoot twice or so again. I de-pressurized the gun, lubed it, cleaned it and played the following weekend and it worked great. The gun is definantly worth buying, i have a DYE Ultralite Minion (Frame/barrel) and love it, but i am selling it due to this gun is much better, it fits in your hands great, and shoots amazingly well. Also just to re-iterate what was once again already said, anything that comes out as a new generation model (Usually) it will have problems, look at PS3, the Xbox 360s etc, they still have issues to be worked out. All new model cars have more recalls than the following year of production.
I do highly suggest finding a dealer to back a very good warranty, i bought mine from a shop i've been buying from for 5 years now, and they gave me a lifetime warranty on this gun unless the parts to repair it are very expensive.
