2.1 update

Hey guys im getting ready to put the 2.1 software on my gun today but i have a few questions.

First of all i have a mac, so my dad is going to bring his pc home today from work. for some reason we cant hook his pc up to the internet from home. so i was wondering if i could download the 2.1 update on my mac and then put it on a flashdrive and transfer it to his pc. Is their any other software i need to make the update? are their some detailed instructions in the 2.1 update files?

Please help and give me your advice...

It should be fine to download the update on the mac then just move it to the pc. You need to get the 2.1 file from the post in this section and also you need to get the drivers and flash software from the WDP site. They all should be zipped files so shouldnt have a problem getting them to the PC then unzip them and follow the insructions.

everything i need though is included in that one download right? or are there multiple downloads i need to do?

GAAAHH i tried opening it. and it says to open this file, windows needs to know what program created it. and it says i can go online and look it up (which i cant because this pc cant be connected to the net) or it says i can selet it manually.

im confused, please help.

ok so now im trying to install the preinstaller.exe and it stops and says that it is recommended that i stop installing because it is not tested or something and could mess up my operating system? huuh? what should i do?

Download the flash utility of FMA or WDP, unzip it and run setup. That will install the flasher program. You then use the flasher program to flash the seriesA_v2_1.SR1 file onto the board.

im following the instructions. and it says i need to install the preinstaller.exe
are you saying i dont need to do that?

i installed the CP210x_VCP_Win2k_xp.exe file
then i go into the folder where i installed that file and i try to install the usb driver by double clicking the preinstaller.exe
this is where i have trouble. it stops the installation and advises me to end the install because it has not been tested and could ruin my operating system. what is wrong?

That is windows saying that they have not tested the software. It is letting you know that if you got the program from an un-trusted source that it "could" damage your OS (i.e. viruses and such).

ok thanks, i installed the preinstaller.exe

when do i put a fresh battery in the gun? is it right before i flash it?

after i install the preinstaller, it says in the directions to connect the gun to the pc, which i do. then it says i must log in. i do this with the name and password, but then it says that they need an admin and admin password. but i am an admin. im not sure what to do.
