While I was at a tourney yesterday cleaning a hit off the feedneck of my 06 Speed I thought: "you know, I get hit in the feedneck/bottom of hopper a lot". Its amazing how much paint can actually make its way into the feedneck around the hopper. I wonder how much the rubber o-rings in the stock feedneck help keep paint out of there? It seems like an aftermarket lever-lock feedneck would get more paint in the feedneck area.
WDP says the o-rings help absorb shock too. I don't know if that helps or not, but I have never had to replace a hopper shell. Hopper board: yes, hopper eyes, drivecone: sure, but not a shell yet.
