Hey guys, a buddy of mine has a 2k3 LCD and is having trouble charging it. The gun went totally dead. You know, when you turn it on, it lights up then goes blank instead of SAFE.

That said, you can't properly boot up the marker, then plug it in like you're supposed to. If you plug it in first, then turn it on, it says "TAB IN" and if you turn it on then plug it in, it still says "tab in".

He gave me his gun for a couple days to play with it to see if I could figure anything out. Last night I left it on the charger all night and this morning, I unplugged it and it said SAFE, so I plugged it back in and now it is charging.

I guess what I'm asking is, does the gun take a charge while in "tab in" mode? I thought it would only take a charge while in SAFE mode.

Also, if the marker goes totally dead, what is the correct procedure to make it take a charge?

TIA

Jesse, "TAB IN" is when the charger is hooked up but the gun is not ready to charge until you turn it to the ON position. Dead gun to live gun charge = around 14 hours. Also, the NiMH batteries in these guns don't like going completely dead. NiCD needs to be "cycled" to lose memory effect, NiMH does not.

yes, but why does it say "tab in" if the marker is in the "on" position?
