Hey all you people w/ out eyes, but can run them, this is the answer. I milled my a4 for eyes, and It took about 1.5 hrs. Just get some E-Blade eye covers, take your marker, andline up the eye cover's screw hole w/ the detent, put the eye cover up against the detent and mark the center of the screw hole. that will get drilled and tapped for a 4-40 thread. then go down to the little line on the body( see pic and line up the bit with the screw holes we just made. ) and drill the 3mm hole. I hope to poist pics of the finished product soon.

Could you try to get a couple precise measurements for the eye hole? How far up from the base of the angel and how far from the tip (where you screw in the barrel)?

you can get a micrometer and measure it yourself for centering, but you have to have a stable drill to do this and the right drill bit.

I may be mistaken but dont you also have to seal off the sensi rod hole on the body too? I do believe it involves a little more than drilling eye and eye cover holes does it not? please correct me if I'm wrong Bob, Ken?????

If your marker uses sensi then yes the mod also includes changing that as well. Not for the faint of heart! lol

The only reason they do that is to increase the airflow. I started this post to tell you how to do it your self!!!!Not to talk about how the pros do it!!!!!!!!!So stop talking about how the pros do it!!!!!!!

i guess it would make more sense to send it to ken but one question, will ken do the exact same thing that bob does such as the fly conversion, the deluxe service and fix my velocity problem all for $399?? for some reason when the angel techs were doing something to my mini reg i couldnt/cant higher the veolcity.

No need.as i already said, the sensi hole doesn't need to be plugged!!!!!!! It is only done to straighten out the air passage to flow a small amout more air. I repeatThis is a post to help,NOT Criticise!!! so if you don't shut up and leave, I will report you and I mean ALL of you!!!!

Hey I'm w/ you on the price part!! Its really hard to spend almost $400.00 dollars on an upgrade for a gun that has a resell value of about that!! It's an investment that you will probally never recover!post pics when you get done!!
I take it that you will be using the tag board (predator) and the 3mm eyes?
post pics and instructions when you get done I'm sure you will help alot of people out!

Its done, but the cameras not working right. and I'm using the lucky board, like it says in my sig,w/ 3mm eyes
So far the cost including the drill bits, tap and eyes/ covers + baord/chip is about $115, alot cheaper!!

Some people want to tackle this project themselves to have pride in working on their own markers. It is not always about the money. I am planning to do this type of conversion my self since I have free access to a CNC machine shop and in the process of getting an old LCD. A description with pictures of each step would be very helpful. Maybe if enough interest is generated, they can make it a sticky.

Does the sensie hole need to be plugged?
the mt says it makes it more efficient so i think it means no.. may be a suggestion/recommendation. no air path really go in the hole. its a port hole for the rod not an air passage. if you really disaasembly it then you would see that the hole has no other purpose but for the rod for sensi/cops. if you want to plug it then plug it with any bondmaster or bostic.

Finally someone else who knows what he's talking about!!! thats right it doesn't need to be plugged. the mts plug it and drill thru the plug to sraighten ot the air ways, but thats it.

1. you will need: marker, drill (preferably a drill press), center punch, 4-40 tap and drill bit, air compressor (to blow out the metal chips),eye harness, board, E-blade eye covers and screws, Dremel tool w/ cut-off wheel, Small file, and about two hours of your time.
2. Get your marker, and completely disassemble it.
3. Mark the eye hole http://img1.putfile.com/thumb/11/31816131542.jpg (http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=4000480)(The green arrow is the eye hole, 1/16 in. behind the Sensi hole on the inside, and the line on the body right under the detent on the outside. The blue arrow is the screw hole.)
4. Set the eye cover on the marker, and using the mark for the eye, put the eye cover tight against the ball detent, then go Approx. 1/16 to a 1/8 of an inch above the eye hole,http://img1.putfile.com/thumb/11/31816131337.jpg (http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=4000473) (this measurement isn’t exact. It depends on how you bend the e-blade covers.) Mark the hole and center the eye cover over the two marks.
5. Drill the eye hole, using a 1/8 in. drill bit. (1/8 in. Is 3.18mm) on the mark you made.
6. And using the drill bit supplied w/ the 4-40 tap, drill the hole centered w/ the eye hole.
7. Repeat steps 3- 6 on the other side.
8. Now take the eye covers and bend them to fit the contours of the marker, if you haven’t already done this. Screw them down and mark the grip frame where they will go into the frame on both sides of the marker.
9. Take the Sensi pad out, and use the Dremel tool and remove the area that you just marked. Then widen the Sensi area of the grip frame to allow you to re-insert the Sensi pad (this holds the blue air way cover up, If you do not do this, THE COVER WILL LEAK. It took me 15 min. to figure that out.)
10. Then widen the Sensi wire slot to accommodate the eye wires.
11. Cut the wires off the Sensi pad, as they will only get in the way.
12. Now you can clear out the chips from the marker, and if necessary, use a small file to de-bur the inside of the breach.
13. Re-assemble the marker, making sure not to damage the eye harness.
14. Hook up the eyes and put them in their holes.
15. Hook up the ‘noid, and batt and check that it all works.
16. Go shoot some stone aged Sensied Angel. (Cause he’s swabbing his barrel, AGAIN!!!!! doh!!!!)

how much would you charge if you were to do someone elses gun. just wondering cause i got a local guy who says his time will be $50. + $12 eyecovers and $20 lucky eyes. $50 sounds like a good price for the time. what do you think?
Mavrick
11-15-2006, 05:12 PM
Not to be critical of the "do it your self theme" of this thread but...
Doing this to your own gun is one thing. You screw it up it's your own fault. Case closed.
Now to offer to do it to someone else's gun is another story all together. You botch the job you going to pay them for what the markers worth? I doubt it.
Again, if you want this done and done right let the pro's do it that have the proper training, experience from doing countless conversions and the proper equipment. A drill press is not what I would call the right tool to be doing this!
If you do decide to let someone other than an MT do this conversion for you and it gets screwed up DO NOT post on AOG that "X" did a hack job for you and messed up your gun forever. For that matter don't even think about sending it to an MT afterwords to fix the botch job. They will just ship it back without even touching it.
I want to be pretty clear on this guys.

there is diagram for this in tagsportz.com http://tagsportz.com/eyeinstalls/angelmilling_basic.jpg
hope this help for the ppl that want to do it themselves. though i would recommend to practise on another piece of metal till you master it. though mavrick is being hypocritical. i dont think that mt's became pro after school. they gain experience and made mistakes too. and he is correct if you make a mistake on an actual marker.. you gonna pay, big time!!! i on the other hand will send my marker for i dont have the time, material, and just plain lazy. i do enough work at work and i dont feel like doing more work when i get off work.

the MTs may have made mistakes, but only before they started working on peoples guns, they mastered the skills of the milling etc. before starting the fly conversions

and yes you are correct. thats why im saying that they should also pratice on their own on a different metal or pipe for closeness of similarity. and should probably aluminum. keep drilling them holes till you get its done right many times then. put your pride to your gun. everyone is capable of doing something. its just a matter of will power and mind set. if you have the mind set and the will power.. you will do great things! ah! i should put this as my sig.

No ups for non B/S/T threads. Ah, dude nice. With my old Speed I couldn't justify $400 for the conversion, when I could get an A4 Fly for $400. So I sold my Speed. After countless trades and sales I have a mint 2k2 Silver Appollo LCD that I'm planning on converting.
Props, let's get this stickied!

thats not a bad idea with the eblade eye covers. they mold to the shape of the body pretty good.
and just on a side note.... the sensi hole can easily be plugged with a very little bit of jbweld. its not necessary like pb4him said. but thats your easy fix.
and bob and ken do the same work. they offer the same conversion program.
post some pics up when your done. i want to see how the eye covers look.
