I was wondering if the self diagnostic system actually does anything, or is it just the "information bar".

also, I'm kinda pissed that the a1 doesn't have an addition hop port for use with intellifeed, or other upgradeable things.. I'm wondering how possible it would be to use the mini usb port as a comunication point for such things. also what language was used to program the board? like vb, c++, pearl, java,

Most likely it was C, C++ or even Assembly. Pearl is for scripting mostly, java cant run with out a JVM and i doubt Sun makes an angel JVM, and vb, why use vb for such a low level application?
