Again,
I'm set trying to life easier for me and my fellow angels. I wanted to know if it's possible to take my extra end plug, And make a threaded hole for boostmonkey's gauge to fit on it.(yes, I would put a plug that would close the hole when not using the gauge and I would use a higher gauge ofcourse.) Allowing one to check the input pressure. Or would one still need to put a piece of macro line to the shaft. What does the macro line do for the pressure checking process?
Peace / Straight Lines!!

With such a small thread for the tool/gauge, and the endcap being made out of plastic. Im not sure if it would hold that kind of pressure ?

Ok, on a plastic endcap I would agree, Isn't made out of aluminum? I'm shooting a G7.

Seems to me that the problem would come from the fact that the valve stem sits right in the middle of the cap, so if you drilled and tapped the cap then threaded a gauge into said hole, you would find it nearly impossible to get the proper tension on the valve stem, and if you did, the valve stem would probably be sitting in the hole for the gauge. You could possibly get it to work if you tapped the spare cap off to one side, so that the valve stem was not interfered with in any way. If you do that, you should be able to check the pressure without having to use any macroline or anything else, as once the cap was screwed back on, the only difference the marker would notice would be a tiny increase in volume from the gauge, but otherwise it would be exactly the same configuration that you shoot with.

Exactly!! it would be off center, just to the side of the allen key hole. but where talking mm's of tolerance. If I come across an extra cap I'll try it. I thought of doing it in the center, but then noticed that the valve stem would be affected. question, what does the macroline do to allow you to check the pressure?

it holds the valve stem in place so it doesnt shoot up to the gauge and open the valve

So if an offset hole was used, no macroline would have to be sacrificed in the name of tuning. Brilliant.

rick i guess ur not such a nubcake after all..lol
but really this is a great idea. If you go thru with it, im sure many people will get it.(sorry i would since my 5peed is evolved and i have a cp reg w/ gauge)
Good Luck rick:bigok:

excatly....but how big of the hole r u talkin about?? cauze it doesnt have to be that big cauze its not like its normally operating so u dont need a big hole

well, I would use the same style gauge boostmonkey sells, but a higher psi of course. and just like adjusting the lpr pressure by taking out the grub screw in the back of the gun. you take out the grub screw that you make the hole for, and screw in the gauge and adjust the input pressure.

but might want to consider this- a very small opening (with small threads) + high psi can = dangerous.

But a smaller hole means a smaller surface area on the part that's screwed in, and since PSI is pounds per square inch, if your square inches are greatly reduced by using such a small part, then so is the applicable pressure applied to that part. I think M5x.8 threads would be fine as long as you didn't tap the hole all the way through (so there would still be a "shelf" to tighten the gauge to, since an offset hole wouldn't allow you to tighten all the way onto the plug).

I drilled and tapped a hole in the side of my flash tank above the mini-reg and installed a 0-300 ashcroft gauge. Now i know what the pressure is all the time.

Really? I would like to see a picture of that? Does it work well?

Yeah it works fine. The next time i go to my cousin's i'll have him take a picture and i'll post it. Me have no camera :(

rick, thats a good idea. and very easilly done. drill the hole for the gauge only half way through. then switch to a bit half the size and finish the drill. then tap the first half to fit the gauge and your good. stay offset and go straight through so you are to the side of the stem mount hole.
well sounds good to me anyway
