Has anyone tried a Halo B with the latest software version on an IR3 yet. Before now some people have had to grease the belt etc to get it to feed reliably and not force too many balls down into the IR3. However, has the latest version of the software fized this problem?
Thanks in advance - Ben

I know some guys that had their Halo's upgraded at MGO, and they say that it pushes the balls without as much force, but at a more constant speed (ie s feeds faster with less force), however they are using them on Cockers and the such so I don't know how well it performs on an Angel

Did the new version change the way the drive cone spins? I had my Halo "A" upgraded to B around World Cup last year. When i turn it on the drive cone spins intermittently, spin pause spin pause. It feeds hella fast though. However my teammates' newer ones spin constantly.

That is how you tell the difference....the new one spins constantly(without balls) and the old is intermitt. I saw a new on with the same prob. as the old, pushing balls. Took it apart right on the spot, greased the belt, and PRESTO! IMO, they ought to start greasing them upon assembly.

correct Styles.....the newest ones spin constantly with what is supposed to be less force allowing for higher feed rates, and less breaks

Sorry chaps - this version breaks constantly on my IR3 'The Rock'. Have tried upping the dwell to 17 and putting BAS upto 9 (from 3)but it has made no difference...
Did somebody say greasing the belt worked??

Yes...Dow 33 or the LoveJuice grease on the belt. Try this...with the hopper on and no balls in it....it spins...if you try to stop the wheel with your finger, you'll feel the spring "load up"...and then you'll feel the positive stop hit and it really pulls hard. The number of degrees of rotation that the spring loads up is the safety zone for activation/deactivation. Now, back to the part where your finder is in the loader...feel how hard the wheel is trying to turn....hear the motor pull way down while trying to turn...remember this sound and feel. Now, take it apart and grease the belt and reassemble (kinda tricky the first time). After greasing, you'll notice when the driver hits the positive stop, the pull is not as hard and the motor doesn't grind down as bad. This solved the problem on my Halo and one of my bud's....

OK, cheers NomadTommy, I'll give that a whirl and report back.
Has doing this completely eliminated your chops with the Halo/IR3 combo?
Cheers - Ben

Yes, Benfrain, it has. The Cobra detent is also a good investment. My IR3 is running good and so is the LCD. I was originally going to scrap the Halo and go to the evoII, but now will buy the second halo for backup. I would have pm'd this, but it is for all to read and draw conclusions from. From across the pond down in Alabama.... "Y'all come back now, ya' hear?" (read: see you later)

I just got the new software and Rip Drive for my LCD. Zero problems. I love it.

Well, I thought mine was fine at first. It was only once I started firing balls at 10+ per second it started to chop and make soup.
I have greased the belt now with love juice and will give it a whirl later today...

Well, the first day I had the new software I hit 14 on a stream (about a 1 second string), and it didn't chop.

No, tried it with the belt greased and still have the same problem - makes soup on every single hopper full. I have also tried another Halo on it - same thing.
I have also tried both these Halo's on an Impulse vision and they both make soup on that????

First of all TSA is not a replacement for the halo b. TSA is a cheap loader meant to compete with the 12Vs and Reloaders. As to the halo problem, I got the new TE software and I have not had any trouble wtih breaking or double feeding. My dwell is set to 16 which I think helps and also a Cobra Indestructo Ball Detent which I think is the best 15$ you can ever spend (You can get it from Mos Paintball).

If this new halo software actually works, with the stock detent, I would seriously consider buying it. But I am waiting for a strong consensus in the general public till I buy it.

Benfrain...What detent are you using?

Ripdrive is a manual overide for the halo in case batteries die. The stock ball detent works fine, but I like the cobra ball detent better anyways.

I'm using the detent that came with the Rock Ir3 - not sure if that is standard or not???

Yeah, I don't think warped makes their own.

Well if u bought it straight from rocky, it comes with his own ball detent otherwise its a standard bullet ball detent. Either way you shouldn't have any problems with the halo.

Actually I stand corrected, they do...It might just be a redesigned WDP detent though.

Well, either way, I tried greasing the belt and it made no difference.
At the end of the day, greasing the belt will slow it down and whats the point of paying loads of wonga for fast hopper that you then have to slow down???
I'd stick to the Evo II if the damn lid didn't snap all the time!
Think I'll go back to a standard revy!!! Slower, but 0 hassles...

Bent, I would try getting the new TE software. It seems to be a lot better than the old one. Its 10$ to upgrade and that includes return shipping. The turn around time is really quick. If u have problems with choping, COPS should stop it.

I had the same thing happen. I sent my hopper in and got the brand new one. They even let me buy a rip drive that isn't available yet...don' t know why they let me, but I think it's awesome.

Well, I have the TE software, doesn't make the slightest difference.
I emailed Odyssey about the problem 3 days ago, still received no response...
