why are people having problems with the bolt breaking in the a1? im a little concerned because im going to purchase one and would like to know if this is going to be an ongoing problem due to bolt material?

I've seen 3-4 people with this issue out of a couple hundred or more owners that visit this and PBNation boards. Have to remember that if it were a common issue you would be seeing many many posts about the same issue, not a few interspersed problems.

The bolt is being moved back and forth at very high speeds by the ram. It is being moved by an offset metal rod that is pressed into it.
This system is bound to have a few problems here and there from an improperly set rod or other manufacturing defect. Should be rare though, I wouldn't worry about it.

Will the replacement bolt be one of the new one with the self-cleaning eye feature?

uh oh....people will be smashing their bolts to get the upgrade ;)Only the idiots out there will. They can smash the bolts all they want. I am positive that the MTs will know the difference between a smashed bolt and a truely defective bolt. After all, that is why they want the defectibve bolts back.
Besides, I bet they can trace the serial numbers to the defective bolts.
So the word of caution is: Don't try and #$!@ with the MT's.

What about the soft face breaking off at one of the connection posts. i just got my a1 joydivision model and only had about 200 rnds through it and it started chopping like a blender. i found the problem with the soft face broken when i was cleaning it. is wdp finding a solution for the issue?
