Sorry to post this here... As a new Angel 1 user, don't where else to go...

Just got the Angel One yesterday, brought it to FriendlyFire/Upton, Mass, and had it chronoed… velocity was at 320-350… PJ ( along-time Angel user from FriendlyFire) tried lowering velocity through the velocity adjusting screw – until it was maxed out (screw wouldn’t turn clockwise any longer). Chrono still reads 290-315 (Max velocity limit at FriendlyFire is 280... so… for insurance purposes, they couldn’t let me use the brand new markermarker!!!). Have shot about 2000 rounds during the chrono test, to break it in. Still the same velocity – 290-315, varying within the range through shots fired.

PJ suggested to lower the LPR, unfortunaley, I don’t have the tools to do it. Besides, I am hesitant to do it because I don’t consider myself proficient… plus, afterall, shouldn’t the manufacturer, before releasing the gun to the market, should have Quality Controlled their product so that just by mere adjusting the Velocity control, I should be able to come up within the permissible ranges (i.e. 265-280 velocity)?

Considering the cost of the gun, I find it repugnant to make major adjustment (I consider it a major adjustment when I need to go buy another tool to correct a problem… on a unit that is just out of the box… not to mention from a manufacturer that considers itself the #1 marker maker in the world!).

Current settings are:
Software: Ver 1.8
Mode: Semi auto
Soft breakout: 10 sec
Hard breakout: 10 sec
Soft Ramp Start delay: 4 Kick In: 5 Kick Out:4
Hard Ramp Start delay: 4 Kick In: 5 Kick Out:4
Dwell Time: 5.0 ms
MROF Eyes ON Limit: Unlimited
MROF Eyes OFF Limit: 18 bps
De Bounce Level: 10
Loader Speed: 8
Shot Filter: 5%
ABS: 3 ms

Any suggestions and thoughts from you good people out there?

Cool, another local FF player.

You really need to know what pressures you are running at (minireg and LPR). Also, what type of tank are you using (HP or LP)?

You are in luck though because Ken Crane at www.performanceangel.com is close by here in MA.

Hi Trigga,
I'm using a Crossfire 4500psi tank., with regards to the pressure running at the minireg and LPR, I wouldn't know (what is the default setting with a gun coming out o the box, would you know? According to Angel (from their manual) it st should be approx 65 psi output from an input pessure of 350psi from the second stage regulator). To check the pressure running at the minireg and LPR, I would need to buy both the Angel 1 LPR Test tool assembly pack and the Angel 1 Exhaust valve pressure test tool? Do I need both? Is it difficult to remove shims in the LPR? Thanks!

Do you go FF often?

Hi Trigga,

The Crossfire 4500psi, according to the vendor, is HP.

ForestYes, both gauges would help A LOT. It is pretty easy to maintain an Angel. But if you are unsure, always get help. Just read the manual fron tto back and over again and you should be fine with the proper gauges.

Right now, WDP is recommening these settings:

Are you close to those settings that you can check like dwell and software version?

Yes, been going to FF for a while now. Great place to play. When I am not tearing up the woods in my back yard here with my friends (got a good piece of wooded land), I am usually at Fox 4 or FF. Actually did kinda good at the last FF 3-man tourney. Well, that is if you call 4th place good lol.

ForestI bet that this is your issue. You know anyone with a LP tank you could try? I'll bet that it would be fine with a LP tank (velocity would be perfect).

Hi trigga,

Is the Angel 1 an HP or LP marker?

its an LP(from the 03speeds on) gun, but you can mess with the spring stack in the inline reg to accept HP tanks

edit, just to check, the top of the tanks reg is red right? Red=Hp Blue=LP for crossfires

Its red.

I guarantee the tank is the problem. Throw a LP crossfire on it and all will be fine.

Thanks guys... JeffW, how do you like your Vlocity?

Yes, you can use a lp tank on it and it should bring fps down roughly about 30-40 fps. That is the difference on mine with a hp or lp tank. Although the Angel one was designed to accept either hp or lp tanks, it just prefers a lp tank.

Really? If so, mabye I should get a A1

It can work with both, but LP is really the best and recommended tank.

There are probably slight differences between the A1's just like there are between any other Angels. If that is the case, I would guess that some will accept the HP tanks AND LP tanks but some will prefer the LPs. Just a guess though, I am not a MT.

the Angel 1 CAN accept HP tanks but its a hit and miss kind of thing, some can get their velocity down some cant, the gun was designed to run its best on LP and your velocity issue was definitely due to the use of an HP tank

Most issues with hp tanks are simple, the tanks ouptut exceeds 850psi. Not un-common to find hp presets that are outputing 1000psi on a full fill. This is why we recommend actually testing the air system.

Thanks guy, I'm trying to exchange my 3-day old Crossfire HP with an LP models. Haven't heard from Allpaintballsupplies yet. But appreciate your help and suggestions.

Responded to your email rarudio: we'll get that swapped out and everything back up and running in no time. I didn't know that the angel regs couldn't handle higher pressure output tanks and did see in the manual it took 850-450psi output tanks which is usually where the Crossfire HP Tanks fall into the 800psi range for the most part. Sorry for the misunderstanding and we'll get things up and running in no time.

Thanks guys... JeffW, how do you like your Vlocity?

I used to use a Halo/angry board and I like the Vlocity much better. It seems to feed more consitant and of course its much lighter.

I AGREE, three of the guys I go PBing with have DM6's and they all use Vlocitys, I have tryed their loaders out on my gun and the Vlocity is much smoother and lighter, also I like the force settings and Auto anti-jam, i am planning on replacing my halo ASAP

I believe i'm doing the same thing once i maybe sell all of these halos, rumor has it halo has been discontinued. I might hold off a little while on mine for a good resale?????

halo being discontinued as in no more Halo B and a new "halo C"/ "Halo B2" or something or odyssey is discontinuing the loader altogether, I doubt that since the halo has sooo many sales, it is the best selling high-end electric loader

Wow...as a player I wanna say that's just absolutely awesome. As a consumer that's even better. I wanna commend you as a retailer for not only posting on a forum such as this, but also for coming through to help a fellow player out. That's really awesome that not only did you go ahead and offer to solve his issues (I'm assuming through personal e-mails and phone calls) but came here to make sure that this was addressed. Really stand up, and thanks for making sure he's able to play. :bigok:
