I didn't want to intrude in what I presumed to be in part a bash Splatterpark thread but as a season pass holder since they moved to Mt Gilead I don't think they are too bad. My passes never cost more than $100 because of renewal and while air isn't free you get four fills with each case you buy. And as a member the paint isn't bad at $50 for a case of Blaze or Premium. And while we may not like it the truth of the matter is they make their money off the rental players not off the people like us who have our own equipment. Splatterpark is owned by the same person who owns CO but is now a seperate company as is paintball-discounters and a couple of other companies I don't remember. Sean is the "new" field manager and if you think it's bad now you should have played there before. Sean's first concern is about saftey and when you have close to 200 newbies out there both days of the weekend for most of the summer it aint easy. But those are the people who pay so we can play. There is an Ultimate Air Ball field coming but Milt Call is a too little busy to fill orders right now as he's involved in his own little tournament over in WV. so give them time. It may not be the best but it is better than a lot I've been to. And one other thing a "Fault 3" is the temperature. Thanks for reading.

Good post Defdad...
As a member of splatterpark, I look forward to the day it is worth being a member. I'm sure Sean will do his best to make it one of the best fields out there.
It is a good field and I enjoy playing there.. my only concern is the issue of Bringing your own paint. Being a member in the past, bringing your own paint made it worth being a member. If they decide to change that, then that is up to them... I surely won't be a member the following year. It wouldn't be worth it.
It is hard to have a paint sponsor and having to practice with other paint. Afterall, that is the benefit of having a paint sponsor.. so you can get used to the paint and it will be cheaper for the player. I renewed my contract on the 29th of March. The contract said being a member, I don't have to use facility paint. That is the reason my team brought Kick'n paint last weekend. When Sean came over and said if we use kick'n paint at his field again, we will be kicked out. That is discrimination.. especially when other teams brought their own paint. I think this was because of a deal gone bad... Sean didn't like Kick's business, so he doesn't want people to use kick'n paint... Legally, he cannot discriminate between paintball manufacturers..especially if the paint is perfectly legal.
If it wasn'[t for the paint issue, I wouldn't have any issues with tthe field.
If they decided this year not to let people bring their own paint.. they shouldn't have made me sign a contract that said I could bring my own paint... also they needed to inform all previous members of the policy change. I wouldn't have renewed my membership if i was informed of this.
Please don't think I hate the field. If it wasn't for their great facility, most people wouldn't be able to play paintball.. they have a great facility for the pro players and the beginner players alike. I just hope that the field is run more professionally.

I pay 80 per FPO case. I would love to pay 50 per case.

shew, my guess was right then about the fault 3 being temp,
But on to the issue, im right behind A.Sanidad on this one. Splatterpark needs to set the rules and leave them. Not tell a team one thing turn around and tell someone looking to buy a membership the complete opposite.
They need to get their stories straight and stick to them. I had resspect for sean until I heard some of the things that he said this weekend.
The facility is great, and its an awesome place to play. But something needs to be done. If you're going to change the contract, don't do it in the middle of the start of a season after most of your passes have been sold.

Okay I can understand the concern about members bringing their own paint. I did it myself last year. And I understand about a team bringing their own paint because SpaltterPark allowed it last year. I don't know what Sean said to you so I really can't comment on that. I do know they(meaning the management and the owners of SP) do have a bad taste left over from last year about teams they sponsored and how they acted at the park. And that's why they are only sponsoring OSU and a couple of local teams this year on a limited sponsorship. And they are expecting certain returns for that sponsorship. But that isn't what we were discussing, sorry I got off track.
But we are talking two different things 1) membership and 2) teams. While I agree members should be able to bring their own paint, that has always been part of the lure, I'm not so sure I agree with teams bringing their own paint at the same cost to play as someone who doesn't have a paint sponsor. But before you jump on my case there could be a way to worrk it out. First keep the doors open with Sean after all it is his park(I know he isn't the owner but he and Mike run it ). Now what if we could get them to allow members to bring their own paint (after all that is what the membership says) but that doesn't apply to teams, unless you are also a member, but what if a team was willing to pay extra to play with their own paint. I don't know if any of this is feasable or not but it is worth looking into, don't you think?

Oh, I forgot, the air ball field was sold to G-force by Splatterpark because they planned to get the Ultimate Air field. If that is incorrect please enlighten me.

i know there are fields that let you bring your own paint, as long as you pay like a 10 dollar fee. i wouldnt be against that. My whole issue is we paid for memberships for a certain right, and now that right is being taken away.
And the fact that there were several people out there w/ their own paint, and we were the only people catching **** for it.

defdad,
I think I understand your point about bringing your own paint...
Let me know if this isn't what you mean.
If a team wants to bring their own paint.. then all members of the team must pay the membership costs if they want to use the team paint.
If that is what you mean.. i fully agree with that... I've always thought it was like that anyways.
One of our guys wasn't a member this last weekend.. we didn't let him use our paint because he wasn't a member.
I think that is the only way it would be fair for members and non-members.
Don't differentiate between teams and members. There are only members... and only members can bring their own paint.

Another thing I want to ad:
If policy changes, Splatterpark needs to send, in formal writing, a change of policy document.
That way all members can make an informed decision whether or not to renew their memberships.
AND
If bringing your own paint isn't allowed this year... they need to update the Membership contract. I renewed mine this year because it stated on the contract that i signed and dated on March 29th, 2003, that I am allowed to use non-facility paint.
I am going to continue to bring my own paint until I get a change of policy letter from Splatterpark. If I get kicked out before such letter, my family lawyer will be involved.
To run a professional business... any type of change of policy needs to be documented and dated before it can legally be set in place. Especially when a signed contract is involved.
I go through this type of stuff everyday working for HP. Afterall, it is my job to change policies and procedures for the betterment of the overall business for the businesses I consult for. That is what they pay me for.

Matthepepe and A.Sanidad
A.Sanidad, Yes that is what I was trying to say. I understand your points and agree with you. I can't comment on the double-standard as I don't know why they would let someone else bring paint and not you guys. But if I were you I'd talk with Sean and if you don't feel you're getting fair treatment I'd go over to CO and ask to speak with the owner. You guys are their customers and they need to address your concerns. But I do think you should try to work something out with them before it comes to angry words and rash actions that will be hard to mend. I guess that's about all I have to say. Thanks Rex

i agree w/ you defdad, angry words arent going to fly until there is a reason too. We will speak to whoever we need to to settle this nice, if it comes down to being ****s and thats what it takes, then i guess it will have to happen, but just because they are a huge company doesnt mean im going to let them drag me around by the **** and let them get their way.
We will see, hopefully they can see eye to eye w/ us and we can settle this and play ball w/ out having someone breathing down our necks about bringing our own paint.

Actually, I was there the last week splatterpark was open last year, and sean told me that it was never the parks field to begin with. It was always GForce's field, from DAY 1. Gforce became unhappy with the park, and they packed up, and left.
Now, who knows what the truth really is? Im just telling you what sean told me.

oh and for the people that hates pyperball, I had tryouts saturday, and i noticed that splatterpark has changed alot. For the better to my knowledge. The way sean was talking, Milt Call from brimstone (smokin) enterprizes... is making not 1, but 2 new 10 man ultimate airball fields. Once again, its just what he SAID, nothing has happend yet.
