Ok so what about Devin or Zak? What do you guys think about using google tools to help us schedule things?

JDemonpbt

I think however if everyone budgets thier money for the May20th event at Paintball Heat. (Located in North Central Indiana) instead of our normal monthly practice, it would be possiable for us to play. My main concern is using this as a "Practice" for PSP. I figure the one day of the event will cost us nearly the same as the two days of practice we normally try to do at Take Aim. But I do understand everyones objections.

I am all for that event and the calender.

Devin Great find on the article, I currently already have alot of that planned. Just to let EVERYONE KNOW!
Rooster: (Based on attending practices)
Name: Status: Number of practices attended:
Rene Back/ Mid Player 2 missed Feb for work reasons.
Devin Mcguire Back player/ altern 2 Missed Jan for unknown
Zach Front Player 2 started team in Feb.
Steve Chulas Front Player 1 Started team in Mar.
Ally Katch Mid/Front Player 3 Has made all Practices.
Jeremy Bowles Mid/Front Player 3 Has made all Practices.
Nick Back/ altern 3 Has made all Practices.
Jason Coach/Support. 2 Missed Mar. due to illness.

On top of that we quilfy for Div IV PSP, Div III NPPL, and Rookie Div CTS. To my knowledge no one on the teams rooster other then Steve Chulas has ever played in any major National Tournament like the PSP or NPPL. Things to Remember are keep fresh batteries in your gear bags for Hoppers and guns, and if your gun has a rechargable batterie in it (Ally this is for YOU) charge it the night before the tournament or practice. Make sure you keep account of all your gear such as packs/pods/Air systems/Hoppers/ and barrels before attending practice/tournament. As for anything else, when we play in a tournament, I would like us to start buying our paint as a team. Meaning everyone buys 1 case of paint each, we open 1 case at a time, and fill up Everybodys hoppers/pods, before opening the next case. If we need more paint, then we ALL pitch in to buy number of needed cases. If there is left over paint at the end, we split it up evenly between all team members. It would not be fair if we had the additude that, say Rene or Devin who play back, has to buy more paint then say Zach cause he's a front player. Because Rene and Devin are expected to shoot more paint then Zach. This would not be fair to Rene or Devin, cause they would ended up spending more money on paint. So we all buy paint at tournaments as a TEAM.

Ok guys here it is. I broke down what it will cost us roughly for each thing.
First of there is on 3 practices left avalible before PSP. Thats counting one in June. On average it costs us Approx $120 per person for a 2 day pratice at Take Aim. Thats $10 entry fee, and $50 a case of paint. We have cut that down once to Approx: $102 per person when I can get us paint from our shop. Its then $25 entry fee, and $26 a case of paint per day. In all for a planned Practice at Take Aim its nearly $100 or more for the weekend.
Now then, It will cost us Approx: $900 entry fee to PSP, and we can only rooster 8 people. If we count Jason, and he's paying too. It will cost us each, $112.50 which we need to start collecting. If Jason isn't planning on helping, and doesn't want to pitch in and pay (Hey I won't blame him) it will cost the 7 of us $128.58 per person.
The NPPL, now then will cost us $1950 entry fee, and will let us rooster up to 14 people. If we had 14 people, it will cost us $139.29 per person. With Jason, it will be $243.75 per person. With out him, it will be $278.58 per person. Now I know we don't have any plans to participate in any NPPL events, but I still figured out the cost for everyone.
As for the CTS series. It will cost us $170 entry fee, as long as we register about 2 weeks ahead of the event. $195 if we're late on registering. They don't have any rules as to how many people we can rooster, so I'm going off what we have. With Jason's help, it will cost us $21.25 per person for early reg. With out him, it will be $24.29 per person. Now if we're late, it will be $24.38 with Jason's help, and $27.86 without. Paint prices are on CTS's website. Currently they offer only 2 types of paint. Enrage, and Ramp from Empire. Enrage is listed at $55 a case, where as Ramp is $65 a case. Now then, if we were to play a CTS event, with Jason's help and having paid early reg. It will cost us each $86.25 for the event with paint. Not including additional paint beyond 8 cases. I think thats well below $100 plus we're spending at Take Aim for 2 days of practice a month. So what do you guys think?
ALSO like I said, we need to start saving, and collecting our money for PSP. We need to deside who we want to collect it, and have that person reg. us for the event soon.

Ally this is all really up to Jason, and how much he would like to help us. I'm not trying to put him in any postion, and upsetting him. I'm just stating what our options are if he desides to contribute.

Not to put a damper on things, but you would have to factor in travel cost, food, and lodging. granted that's a cost Jeremy fronts every month, some of the lot doesn't have a job. cost would be harder for them to swallow. These numbers are small when you've got a steady flow of income. I've got a mortgage payment that eats up half of total monthly income, not to mention other §§§§. Heck I'm behind $1100 in my bills. Just keep things like this in mind when making plans.

On the other hand it's hard to ignore the benifits of preparing for a tourney by doing one before the big event. If I recall this teams sole purpose was to do the psp and a few other events scattered about the midwest. But, now this is a skeptical "But" We could forego PSP all together and focus on just the midwest tourney scene. As a sponsored team it is our job to give our sponsors exposure. Doing a series will give us more bang for our buck and more advertising area for our sponsor. On the other hand, I mentioned before, our primary reason for getting together was the psp, win or lose.
so you can see this isn't a very easy choice for me to say yes or no lets do the event.

Now that the outdoor season is kicking in along with the warm weather we should consider practice at an outdoor field. Jim mentioned last time that he was thinking about not opening weekends because of teams going outdoors. Something to consider. Last year Devin, some other guys and I practiced indoors during the weekdays thursdays. Sometimes there would be enough people to scrimmige, sometimes not. but the place was sometimes packed with nonpaying kids who stand around shooting blanks and don't start a game until close, on wednesday and sunday nights. Very poser atmosphere. Tried it once and never returned on those nights.

JDemonpbt
03-24-2007, 04:24 AM
If you read through it all again, I didn't factor any traveling expenses for ANY event. I mainly feel that it is up to EACH and EVERY one of us to cover our own travel/food/lodging/gas etc... Yes I am forking out alot of my money to travel up to Chicago once a week. On avarage I spend $100 on gas, Another $80-$100 per night at a Hotel, and maybe if I'm lucky still have about $20 to eat off of. Thats not including my cost for practice. So that one weekend a month we hold practice, I'm spending nearly $300 or more, which is about my entire paycheck for that week. Thank God I don't have enormous bills yet. I am well aware that most of our guys either A: have no job, or B: have to many bills. but I'm trying and all I ask from anyone else is the same. To Try that is.

Wolfboy
03-24-2007, 09:59 AM
Ok just wanted to put out there. A) Couldnt we car pool to get to the indiana event and B) We wouldnt need to stay a night so thats another cut on the fee it would be say another $20-$25 per person to pay for food and gas. Anyone who comes from wisconson could do all the car pooling and we can all chip in some gas money. they would have to come right by me and rene to get to paintball heat. I know this is just an idea and there are many flaws in it but lets see what we can do to work around it.

JDemonpbt
03-24-2007, 03:00 PM
I think the car pooling idea is a great idea. Even Zach lives up there near Rene, and Devin. But I already have spoken to Ally about this event in May, and she has already informed me that there is no possiable way for her to make that one, due to her personnal schedule. Besides, she also said that was on her Birthday. (Happy Birthday Early Ally!) But still the car pooling idea could work for later in the season. As for the Badlandz event, I'm all for it, but, my main concern about that one is, Me getting the time off for that one, and still getting time off 2 weeks later for PSP. Not to mention being able to afford my traveling costs for both events. Its like I had already stated, I spend nearly my whole paycheck to travel up there and back. Now if I'm going up there twice in one month, then I would be spending nearly 2 weeks worth of pay, and I still have my bills to contend with.

Either way, if we do the one in May, we'll probably have to do it without Ally. If we do the one in June, then it might be without me. This is the problem with a small team from all over the Midwest. We all have different schedules, and not enough players.

Wow..
you go away for a weekend... and all this stuff...
Hey Guys, HB was a blast.. too bad Joy took 4th :-(
So
As for the events i am up for pretty much any thing. My bills are not too big and i have a decent job.
I am going to get this Google calender thing rolling. This is what i will need:
Ever on on the team to PM me with their Full name (first al last) and current email address.
This is what will happen:
1) If you have a gmail address: skip to step 3.
2) You will recieve an invitation to a gmail account.,
2.1) you will accept it and enjoy to greatness that is gmail. (trust me on this one.. been using it for years!)
3) I will create a gmail calender for our team.
4) i will send you notification of the calendar so you all may view it.
5) You will set up your Google account to utilize Google calendar. (trust me on this i use it ALLOT).
6) Jeremy, i will need you to send me the dates for practices, and possible events.
7) I will create the practices and possible events

this will actually be simple..
and if you guys need some more instruction.. the gmail online help is really easy..

Also Google has a group type program, that allows file storage, and web pages and stuff.. i dunno.. could be useful.

As for all this internet Google crazyness.. i will keep ontop of makeing sure it stays up to date. If any one has questions.. i will help. if that is OK with the group.

ok?

Who's got a van or vehicle big enough for 3 or 4 people and gear? We'd probably have to do two vehicles since I'm not aware of anyone with a van.

Jeremy, I here ya on the not enough people. We definately need more people on the team to cover event's like this.

Have fun in Washington, Zach, I use to live in Seattle, kinda long story though... Anyways, we all need to decide about postponing practice. We can either wait until, A) April 21st & 22nd which is one week later then planned. or B) Wait until Ally has gotten our Jerseys (Which I'm sure she doesn't have a exact date expected), or finally C) go ahead with practice as scheduled. which is April 14th & 15th. YOU GUYS let me know! I'm going with what ever the majority is.

JDemonpbt
04-05-2007, 04:20 PM
Called Badlandz today, guys April 15th is the first event of the Chi-town series tournaments. We can particapate in it if everyone wants. Its a bring your own paint tournament. Entry fee is $300 though, due by Next Friday. Thats $50 per person/by 6people. Entry deadline is next Friday. We can play in that event instead of normal practice, or we can still hold our 2 day practice during that weekend at the Badlandz, watch the tournament, and still be able to play on one of the open Airball fields. (Yes they will have an open Airball field I asked) If we go that route, then our entry fee will be $25 per person/ per day, and we still can bring our own paint. Honestly I think it would be better for us to just pay in the tournament, and get the experience. LMK.

I would definately do it but, My wife works That day and will need the car, I will have to ride with someone.

So who's going to give me a ride? I request that I sit in back though.

JDemonpbt
04-06-2007, 04:42 AM
I'll host you a ride, provided I have room between all my gear, and paint for the team.
I have heard back from:
Steve: Yes is for it.
Devin: Yes is for it.
Ally: Undecided
Rene: Yes for it.
Myself: Most Definitly for it.

Haven't heard from Zach yet. Guys just a heads up too, If we do play the tournament, we'll bring "Team Paint". That means everyone will buy one case of paint from Jenny. The paint can be any PMI paint, as long as its PMI Brand, which includes; Evil, Midevil, Marbalizers, PMI Premium, and Rampage. So that means we'll have six cases of paint. We'll then open one case up at a time and devide it between all players. If we need more paint, then we'll all split the cost of one additional case of paint at a time. I'll bring Approx 12 cases, which is two cases per person, which I doubt we'll even go through. Any leftover unopened cases of paint, I'll have to take back with me. We only need to pay for the cases we use. Any case of paint opened, we'll split evenly amoung all players to use as they see fit. I'll PM everyone a price list of our cost on Paint, since I can't discuess it here on the forums. But needless to say, it will be very cheep for us. Also what ever paint we decide on, I think it will be best for everyone to get the same. ie: Rene can't get marbalizers, and Steve and Zach get Evil. We all will have to Evil, or we all get marbalizers. OK?

JDemonpbt
04-07-2007, 05:18 PM
Still waiting to hear back from Zach, and get a for sure answer from Ally. At the moment we have 4 people to play, and we need 5. Perfer to have all 6 of us though to cut down the cost to $50 per person. But if we only get 5 of us, then it'll be $60 per person. NEED TO KNOW ASAP.

Okay guys I got most of the Info from everybody. Just need a few tidbits here and there. If I don't hear back from you guys by this Afternoon, Around 3pm My time. I'm going to just go ahead and send in what I've got.
Next thing, a couple of you guys have asked me to order stuff for them, If I got it in, (and those whose stuff I have gotten, I have told) I will be bring with me. Jenny however does expect to be paid for this stuff, when I return from the weekend, so Please have your money. I'll also be bring a few extra items if anyone is interested. If there is something you guys need, or want me to bring, let me know.
AND NOW THE GOOD STUFF......
I have a complete copy of the rules regarding this tournament. If you would like a copy, you can download it from www.chitownseries.com As far as I know, (will confirm this later this afternoon) it is a PSP ramping tournament. It also is suppose to have the field lay out for the upcoming PSP event. If you want to see the field layout, go to www.pspevents.com and look under the Mid-atlantic open. There you'll find the field layout.
Captains meeting is at 8:30am on Sunday, games (I'm pursuming) will start following after. So I suggest we all BE THERE no later then 8am. We all will then walk the field together, and formulate 3 seperate game plans. As far as games go, we will play a minium of 5 games, and more if we do well. We'll start out with a rotation of all our players, so EVERBODY WILL get to play...
Remember too guys, this is our practice for this month, however ITS STILL A TOURNAMENT, and lets play it like we WANT TO WIN IT!!!!! Besides have you guys seen the BIG ASS THROPHY we get When we do win it?
Now then I'm all PSYIC UP!!!! Who's with me?

Hey Guys, i will be down there Sunday morning.
I well also bring a small arsenal of angels. However, the gear piece i kinda lack in are loaders: (planing on a G7, G7fly, Speed 05, fliedA4, maybe a speed demon.. depends if i can get it put back together in time...)
i only have two (well three.. but one if being experimented with.. muhuhuhahaha)... some if people (Devin??) can bring a loader to spare... that would be very nice.

I need to know if Badlandz is serious about the notarized waiver thing. There is no way I'm going to screw around with getting a PAINTBALL waiver notarized, and there is no way I'm hauling my parents down to Chicago to sign a waiver. I've never heard of any other field doing this, and it sounds a bit extreme to me.

I think fields r just staring to notarize things, it may be because of a new law or something

Midwest AOG ,

I'll be making a trip to the Badlandz as well, and would like to meet up with your team and introduce myself. My son is playing in the Young Guns event under the team name of Doom.
In terms of the waiver, I would recommend that you print off the form and have your parents sign it and have it notorized. One guy that always goes up there with me and my son, has to have this done, since his parents never signed a form, since I always brought him up there. I mentioned this as well to my son to make sure that he takes care of this otherwise there will be NO team Doom to participate !

If you are in doubt, give them a call. Debbie is very pleasant to talk to.

Best of Luck to Midwest AOG !

Mike

if you need something notarized there is a currency exchange that does notarizing for like 5 bucks. Print the form out and notarize it. You have to sign a waiver every time you play at thier field.

Well, after everything was said and done, We came home today emptyhanded. There was alot of returning teams from last year playing D3, So we were at a bit of a disadvantage. The Good the news is I feel we came out of this stronger than before. You can't build from the top cause it's all downhill from there, You've got to build a strong foundation first and that was our purpose today.

Jeremy will be by later with the gory details of the day, but I just wanted to say everyone did a good job, and I hope we all Learned a little bit about ourselves that we can use to our advantage next time. :-)

Midwest AOG,

Just wanted to drop a quick line and say that it was nice to meet the team at the tournament. Putting faces with a Angel-Owners name is a plus. You all had the tournament look on your faces. I was looking at the scoreboard throughout the day to see how your team was doing as I was checking the Young Guns Standings.
DragonJedi..... Your words on the tournament could not of been spoken any better. Remember: Hard Work Has It's Rewards !
The captain of my sons team had issues with his DM6 ( bought used ), and had to use my 03 Speed instead. Of course the gun ran flawless, since it's an Angel !

Looking forward to see the team play at the Chicago PSP. Please be sure to post your schedule here. I normally take Thursday and Friday to watch, since it's a great time to buy things that are needed, since the prices are great ( no tax / shipping ) !

Okay guys, here it is... After thinking things through for the last few days, not to mention, I've been waiting for www.chitownseries.com to update thier website with the final scoring and rankings, heres my final thoughts on the tournament.
First off, I want to thank ALL of you guys for an outstanding performance, and playing with honor and intagraty. You guys did great. I was extremely impressed with the performances of some of you guys, and was a little disappointed with some others. But, thats not to say they played bad, and we still have quite a ways to improve, and grow. At current, there is only 9 weeks left until Chicago's PSP open, and we only have one practice left, 2 if we squeeze one in June before the PSP.
Our first game, was without a doubt, our best one played. We lost 2 guys in the course of the game, but were still able to make our pushes, and close off the other teams players, and end the game with hanging the flag.
The next game, was fairly bad, we lost some key postions, and players nearly off break, and just wasn't able to gain back the majority of the field. Ending it with a complete lost. But don't feel bad guys, the team we were facing then, was a much more experienced team, and have been playing together longer. Not to mention too, in my opion I believe they were sandbaggin.
Game 3, was much a repeat of the second game. The biggest fault we had, was most of our team didn't hear the 10 second warning, and the start of the game. To fix this problem for the future, one of us, if not all of us, will start repeating the call from the ref, to let everyone know that the start of the game is coming up. We do have a couple of people on the team with hearing impedaments, so we have to rely on each other to assure the communication is there.
Game 4, I think was our next best game. Once again though we lost key position quickly and early. I noticed too, one of the things that was happening, was we were losing our back players before our front players. This is a huge problem, since our front players our relying on our back players to keep them in the game, also once the front guys are alone, they are extremely vulnrable for run thoughs. Usually they can't even look out thier bunkers due to 3 or 4 or even 5 guns shooting at them.
Game 5, our last and final game. We lost one guy off break quick, (hey it happens) all of our other players made thier primaries. we then lost 2 guys immedataly from there, and let the other team just turn thier guns on the last 2 guys left, and move up the field at easy. We need to start practicing how to "Cross up" the field to protect and run down the clock. One thing too, guys, we have got to control our tempers and anger. We were lucky, we didn't get points deducted for unsportmans like conduct, and some tournaments will pentalize a team for that. Even if you cuss, they will deduct points. Next, when we're in the "dead box", try to hundle up together, to throw off the other team, when they are trying to count our players in the dead box. The reason behind this is to keep the other team guessing, and looking for any other players they left behind, and ultimatly run out the time clock, ending the game and keeping the other team from getting points for the flag hang. If you guys also have a complaint over a call that the ref gave, tell me right away. Once we step off the field, we can't argue any calls the ref has made. And only the Captain of the team can argue the calls.
Well, in other news about it, I looked up the scores from last years tournament, and 3 out of the 5 teams we had played were returning from playing in the series last year. So we had faced some extremely tough compution at this event. Plus we are still a new team, and have only been able to get together 3 times prior to this tournament, and some of us haven't been thier all 3 times. Also in our first game, we scored 58 points, which beats nearly 8 other teams who played in the whole event from last year. So we didn't do that bad. In fact, we took this as a practice to see how we would do, and came out of it with knowing what we need to work on, and improve. Besides guys I'm glad we got beat here playing a varity of D4 and D3, and possiably some D2 PSP teams, then playing the PSP evnt as our first tournament together and just getting crushed. Now I think we can do much better in the PSP, thanks to this experience. So in the end, Great job guys, and Girl...I'm proud of you all.

Cool I can't wait. Do you have any idea of what the turn around time is Ally?

TheDragonJedi
04-19-2007, 10:18 AM
You think you liked that, I wish I had thought of it sooner, Check these out. Looks confusing at first but I plan on making 3 individual game plans, and each game plan will be specific to your position so you don't have to stare at everyone elses. The Goal is to have two pairs that watch for each other and 1 player that draws the attention.

I've been looking at the pictures a bit more and I've noticed something that we did well on the first game but lost on the rest of the games. The Breakout was indeed horrible. Most of us, including me were not shooting our lanes properly. On top of that, everyone was moving and trying to lane at the same time. This did me no good as I wasn't in a lane long enough to stop anyone, My shots came after I made my push to my secondary and took two guys out and pushed one to the other side for someone else to take out.

If you look at the game plans There are several lanes open right off the break from the back center X. We could have easily crossed the whole field out from two positions, allowing one for the red zone and one for the blue zone with someone up the center. Take a good look at these and realize how our game could have gone much better.

I also apologize for my Unsportsmanlike behavior on the last game. I was frustrated as hell after a whole day of trying to figure out modes, but that was no excuse to snap at anyone.

Turnaround time is supposed to be about 3.5 weeks... so we SHOULD have them by the second weekend in May. That is the ONLY weekend that month I am able to practice (that or the first weekend, but I'm entirely sure that we will NOT have our jerseys by then), so if I don't have them by then, perhaps we might hold another practice in June OR postpone the one in May till June?

I'm cool with having practice whenever. To be honest, the later the better, since I had some trouble coming home from the weekend. First after I left Rene's house, I got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on I88 for almost an hour and a half, without moving more then a couple of hundred yards or so. Then, as I finally got out of the city area, I got a horriable headache, from not eating most of the day, and got really tired and dizzy. So when I was on I65 in Indiana, just North of Layffette, I pulled off the highway and checked into a motel for the night just to be safe. When I left Monday morning, things were going good for me, until I got on the outskirts of Richmond on I70. There I passed a Indiana State Police, and he pulled me over saying he clocked me going 80mph in a 70mph zone. Now my speedometer was reading 75mph, but still thats only about 5-10mph over, and most cops won't look at you for that. None the less, he sited me, and gave me a ticket. He gave me 2 months to pay it, and a self addressed envelope to mail it in. When I looked at the envelope, it had an amount list for the ticket. Anything from 1mph-15mph over is a $125 fine. Thats harsh.

Dunno if you got the memo, but I was wiped on repeatedly by at least three different people. Personally, I'm not in favor of continuing with this series, because I don't care to waste my time or money with it if the refs aren't going to at least TRY to make reasonable calls. I really don't give a §§§§ how "new" we are, a fair call is a fair call. I also think that if you are paid to do a job, you do it, and you do it RIGHT. It would be one thing if we got one or two messed up calls due to point of view or something else... that happens. Sideline reffing, "bunker rub", and other similar crap are inexcusable, I don't care how well you know the players on the other team. And in case anyone cares to ask, NO, I would NOT do the same thing if it were me.

I hear you sis, I know it's nearly impossible to go that many games without at least getting someone. However nothing good comes out of raising a stink here, these things need to be brought to the attention of the organizer. And I'm afraid this isn't the only series in which there are an abundance of wipers. You'll find it no matter where you go, and remember, big points are at stake in PSP we're going to see it there too. You've got to call those plays, like jeremy said, in the field.

I don't think we should abandon the series, it will only make it easier for the rest of them to win. Besides, it was our first tournament together! How you gonna let a little thing like wiping stop us? We can and will become a force to be reckoned with. Give them a run for thier money by becoming something more, a better example, a better team. Wasn't that anyones thought? That were doing this because we feel we can become a better team? Not whiners, Winners. It's who we all are inside and it's what we're going to unleash, That means being a winner 100% even in defeat.

Competition is second nature to me. I was competing in Track since the 4th grade, I've won and lost so many I lost count. But it wasn't the event, it was act, the act of competing. The need to show em who's the best at what I do. you need to find that, a burning desire to never back down and cower in the face of your adversaries. We cannot. . . . .

Okay guys here whats up with that. First off, don't be surprised one bit if you see someone on another team do it. Like Rene said, its gonna happen, and even some teams, its thier whole game plan to do nothing but. Yes you can blame the refs, but personnally I think you should blame the person who commited the act. The refs at the Chi-Town series ARE NOT paid employees, of the Badlandz, but were in fact the Champion team from last years event, and really could give a rats A@# about the tournament since they couldn't compete in it anymore. Yes Devin and Ally are right we did shoot out other players in other games, but I know of multiple times the refs called those players clean from bunker rub or some other fluke. I even pointed out to Rene during one of the games we watched from the sidelines while waiting for our next game, some Clearly visable methods of deception and cheating while it was occuring. None the less, we had had some horriable calls made against us, and we lost. Now I agree with Rene, about not giving up on the whole series simply cause a few bad apples, there is more at stake here then just simply playin in a tournament. Competeing shows our sponsors that we want to promote the sport and grow to higher levels of skill, not to mention too its really a game of Name Recognition. The more events we attend, regardless of how well we do, the more people start to know us, and see how honest we really play, thus opening the doors for future sponsors, and possiable better calls in tournaments. The Third tournament I ever played in was one of the best, cause my old team and I were in our staging area preparing for our game, when some little kid came up to us and asked us, "Your team Jade Demons, right?" I said yeah, and the kid replyed "You guys are playing in this tournament? You guys kick a@# in the last one, so your gonna probaly win this one" (Oh btw we placed 6th out of 10 teams in the privious tournament) "I don't want to play against you guys". You don't know how great that makes you feel, when some person, knows you and your still such a little fish. It makes you feel like you cn do better. But any ways final word on cheating is this. Our TEAM does not allow it, if you deside to deliberatly do it, you'll pay the consequences, both on the field and with the rest of the team.

paintchick79
04-22-2007, 05:53 PM
I'm not saying lets give up competing altogether, I'm saying lets see if we can't find another way to do it. Yes, there will be wiping at any tournament, but refs tend to care more when they're getting paid well. Surely there are other series' in the Chicago area in which we can take part. I don't care to line the pockets of a field owner who isn't going to look into how his refs are doing, even if he ISN'T paying them.

That said, does anyone know if the NLPL is still taking place?

JDemonpbt
04-23-2007, 03:58 PM
All I can say Ally, is you might want to email Deb @ the Badlandz to place your complaint and dis-satifaction with the way the tournament was organized. As for any other series in the Chicago area, well once again, we'll most likely be facing most of the same teams, and if they were cheating there at the Chi-town series events, they most likely will do it again at other events too. Yeah the refing might be better, but the problem is still the same.

Thought I'd reqoute this for reference.

I think it would only be fair for just the six of us who are playin, (Thats Ally, Rene, Zach, Devin, Steve, and myself) to be the ones paying entry fee for the PSP. It will cost us each $150, and Steve is now in charge of collecting that from everyone. So check with him on payment options. Also deadline for registering is this coming Monday, May7th.

For now,
Payment is gonna be either cash, or check. I am working on getting a Paypal account all verified up for myself. If i get that in the near future, I think i want to use that. I think the reg fee can be paid via paypal (at least player reg fees can be) and then you can send my some monies, and i can use that to send to the psp. My understanding of pay pal is that as long as the monies stays in their system.. you do not get fees. But i will find out soon.

I will need to get all the players APPA ID numbers. Send them to me via a PM or Email.
so far i have Mine, and Ally's

That is only if you are using a Personal account, and with a Personal account, there are various restrictions. E-checks might be a better solution, though I'll look into it, I'm not especially familiar with how they work.

Well I'm not one to deny anyone anything that is available to just about everyone else. we have had quite a few practice sessions already so you missed out mostly on the team dynamics, However Steve was a bit late in coming in and he still did great.

Aside from that, there is one more person interested in joining the team. She plays both airsoft and paintball, Great Personality. Told her to come check us out sometime.

Sure, the more the merrier in my opinion, but i will not be hurt if the team thingks keeping the ranks closed is better. I thinka few more players couls not hurt. People to shoot at during practice is always good. If we have 10 people, we never have to wait foranother team to practice against.

Also Mays practice does fall on Mothers day. Are we gonna have a two day practice? I say YES. and play as late Saturday as we can. Lemme know so i can book a hotel room if i need to.

I do think my mothers visit is much more important than Practice. There will be this whole church thing and family party thing going on. So I know for a fact I will not make it sunday. Quite frankly I still got a §§§§ tons of paint left from the tourney. It won't cost me but a dime to play. I will not be able to make it out to practice at all this month, we just have way too much going on, and to be honest I just don't have the cash right now. I'm also really trying to buckle down and study like crazy while I can before graduation. This weekend is too short of notice, next weekend is Mother's day, the weekend after that is my birthday, the weekend after that is my cousin's graduation in the UP, and the weekend after THAT Is my graduation.

I haven't heard anything on our stuff, but he did say 3.5 to 5 weeks. We will have it before PSP, that's all the information I've got at this point.

Ally its completely cool that you miss, I understand its hectic, right now for you. Just keep us updated on our goodies. Next, if anyone is interested, I've reserved 2 rooms today at the Bolingbrook Hampton Inn, for Friday and Saturday nights during PSP. So Steve, or Ally your welcomed to one of those rooms. Just let me know when the order for guns goes and i will be in on it. as for PODs, Sure how about 16 for me. (i like loading them ONCE, and i found it is about 15 pods per case, give or take)

So to sum up. I will be in on a gun when at least one or two others are also ready. (until further notice). and Put my down for 16pods.

ALL:
psp registration opens wednesday. the fee for D4 5man is $1000 so...
split between the 6 of us (jeremey, devin, zach, rene, ally, myself) is $166 a head. I will need that ASAP.

If Sir SpeedyinBlue OR Rene's scout joins us the fee drops to $145 a person, and if BOTH join us the fee drops to $125 a head.

My advise to the 6 of us, plan on getting the $166 to me ASAP. If the other join us . i will get the difference back to you. I can take cash, check, (handed or mailed) (i am leary of PayPal yet since i did not use it to recieve monies yet.. sales on guns going slow...)

There is also another subdevision open.. where all games willbe played on saturday and sunday, to help with those in school or work.. but it is $1200 entry. Since we all planned on the extended weekend, and time off i will be registering us for the REGULAR ($1000) division. I will do this wednesday the 9th (tomorrow) when polls open. The faster everyone gets me the money, the faster we get our spot secured.

Hey if you ever want to hook up with us and help us out with drills and practices, your more then welcomed.

As for Steve bringing a friend, hey the way I feel, the more the marier! Same goes with you Rene, about your friend who wants to join with us. Also same goes for Jon, (Speedyinblue).

Another note too, I'll be buying an A1 once I get my Tax refund. (Long story there). Rene I'll have money in my hands for the pods this weekend, don't let me forget. I also have your DVD in my gear bag now.

Last thing too, I finally got those arm coach bands we've talked about. At the moment I've only got 3 since thats all they had in stock. So I'm keeping one for myself and the other 2 are for graps from any of the original 6 guys we had first. Don't worry you guys don't have to pay anything for them. Another note I wanted to mention about the pants, (and guys this is why I think we should go with them) WDP is NOT a sponsor of PSP, Evil is! We are playing Div 4 PSP, and Evil is ONE of OUR sponsors. Now I like the Angel Airtime stuff too, but I think we're more likely to get bad calls made against us, for supporting a Non-PSP sponsor. If we wear Evil pants, and "Custom" Angel jerseys, then we've got the best of both worlds. So far all I've heard from about the pants is:

Steve-NO
Ally-NO
Rene-yes
Zach-yes
Devin-haven't heard from
Myself-Either way is really fine, but perfer yes.
Jon-if needed (BTW Jon it's not really a matter of filling a quota)
Anyone else????

Guys I just need a for sure answer so I can tell Aaron or not.

Nick wants to play, he's determined to talk to someone at the PSP to see if and how he can get in to play, I told him to that if he plans on doing that we expect him to pay his part of the entry. I've already linked him up to APPA so he can get and pay for his ID and Number. We can discuss this more with him over saturdays practice, his mother should also be present in case she has any questions.

Believe me, I would rather he didn't Pursue PSP, but I'm not going to sit back and allow someone to play on my dime. Sounds selfish I know but it's hard to make a dollar stretch nowadays. But the real teams today all share in equally for the success of the team as a whole. Everyone attending pays, none of this "if he's not playing he shouldn't pay" I've witnessed enough individualism to know when things will fall apart. Besides he say's not to treat him like someone "special" so he pay's, if he get's to play GREAT, If not then that's a decision made. If I got hurt on my first match and couldn't play the rest of the event at all till next year, I wouldn't go asking for my money back just because I didn't play. Now I'm ranting. . . . But anyway, he understands, or at least I hope he does as I sent him an email explaining.

paintchick79

I certainly wouldn't want to pay for someone else to play either, and if he CAN convince the PSP people to let him play, then by all means he should. However, I don't think it is fair AT ALL to raise his expectations, make him pay, and then tell him he can't play. Better to get this resolved IMMEDIATELY, meaning someone (I will even do it if no one else wants to) needs to email the PSP organizers and find out if he can play.

I agree with Ally, but as far as emailling PSP its already been done twice now. Once from myself and once from Rene. As far as I know, they have never responded to either of us. If (and this is a BIG if) the PSP does allow him to play, then he's gotta know and understand too, that THEY will not change any of the rules just for him. He'll have to play just like the rest of us would, meaning he'll have to start from the breakout board, run to any bunkers, and if he or even his wheelchair gets hit, he'll be called out. Now I know he doesn't reallize hits on his wheelchair, and will most likely then play on, which could get other team players pulled for him playing on. Not to mention too, he's gonning to run a much higher risk of getting hurt then the rest of us will. I like the guy and all, but I don't want to see him get hurt, or even worst, some JackA@# kids thinking it will be funny to shoot out the handicapped kid, and make a scene. I'm not trying to say anything bad against Nick, but I don't think its good for him to play in the PSP tournament. I have no problem with him helping us out, and coaching if he wants. He is STILL part of this team.

Na, I'm done emailing PSP. I've sent more than one email, one more and they'll probably start bashin us for harrasing them, I don't want that. And I've thought about all implications of a wheelchair in game, Besides the inability to make a breakout who's gonna reload his hopper? It sucks letting down a good friend. Let's just focus on the game and our plan.

I've got some print outs for everyone, but for those who want to take a peek at them now it'd be a good idea to go to www.splattmagazine.com and check out the how to. There are alot of great tips in there without the hassle of sorting it all out in a forum. These are principles we should all be incorporating and thinking about constantly. At home, in the shower, in the car, work, play anything. We need to start thinking more competetivly, and becoming more assertive in the field.

There is one principle I'd like to see if we can work on and that is pairing up. this will help in creating more opportunities to exploit by having someone who could suppress fire while you make a move. In making these moves we have to have already identified blind spots. These blind spots will be your goal as they'll allow you to move up the field unnoticed or barely noticed. While making these "blind Moves" your support partner will be scoping out the field and communicating what he see's ahead. this could be one pair or two pairs, whichever way it's done it will require a new game plan.

All at the same time, We have our one person move up to a bunker previously identified as "GOD BUNKER" This bunker gives you a wide field of view allowing you to identify your opponent position while communicating them to your team mates. This will be a lone gunman position and most likely will be a back player. Probably doesn't even have to shoot much either depending on the game plan.

I've been thinking alot about our last tournament and I feel I've narrowed down my mistakes. I'm confident I won't be making them again. So I'm going to need everyone to be extra attentive to thier details, Once the field layout becomes available I'll be running quite a few game plans by everyone and making sure were all understanding our purpose in each game plan.

BUT PLEASE DO ME A FAVOR, GO TO WWW.SPLATTMAGAZINE.COM and Read the HOW TO's. They're all very helpful and will go a long way in understanding the game more.

Hey all:

couple of things:
Ally Need Jason APPA id for staffing.

registrations seems to teared to paying as early as possible...
look:
http://www.paintball-players.org/cgi-bin/showteams.cgi?EID=517&LID=1
if i register by monday the 21st of may it is $1000, then it is $1050 till the 27, then $1100 until june 11th.

So i will need at least a majority of money this weekend. I will pay the entry fee, but if i am left out to dry on this.. it will be bad. Lets not let then happen.

Rene, how much for 16 pods? (PM or EMAIL ME PLEASE... KEEP PRICING INFO NOT HERE)

Also... i would like to get as few more phone numbers of peoples... anyone please email or PM me a good number to reach you.

the 6way split is $166. So plan on bringing that. If we get more players, i will keep very close tract, and refund any overages.

Also.. does anyone need me to bring a spare angel? (or 3?) Lemme know, if not... i may ride my motorcycle down.. hehehe that will be fun!

real quick.. does anyone else have a motorcycle license? (weird crazy thought...)

Very cool about bringing a guest.. i will see if his is interested.

See you all tomorrow!

How'd the practice go?

It came and went. Worked a little on team dynamics but there werent too many teams to scrimmage against so we had an xball field pretty much to ourselves. I found out the eyes on my gun aren't working too well either so I ended up with the same problem as last tournament. Devin took a good shot at my neck and now it looks like A vampire attacked me. Though their purpose was to wedge players in and force a fight with another it worked very well and I suggest this be something we all work on together as a team, not separate.

We talked to nick and made sure he fully understood our concern, he will be attending PSP but most likely not play, but he is still going to ask.

the Hybrid Field wrist pockets (whatever you want to call em) were very neat and handy, highly recommended.

Other than that it was kinda cool weather wise, and I'm sure jeremy and steve right now are freezing.

Guys I need sizes from everyone who wanted Pants and/or Knee & Elbow pads. So far I only have Zach's sizes, and Myself. I have Rene's size for the pants. Devin did you still want to get pants too? I can't remember. And does your brother want them too? And last but not least, Ally, did you want me to order you any? You don't have to pay for anything until PSP. So just let me know. Guys I would like to get all this stuff taken care of this week. I'll even try and get the order in, so I can recieve this stuff this coming Friday. Last but not least, I'll try and mail everyone any/all merchandise asap, so you guys will have it quickly.

No pants or pads for me, thanks. Just the soft ears--and yes, I do have the stock ones for when PSP rolls around.

Also Steve: I'll have Jason's APPA number for you by this weekend for sure. He's been working and studying for finals a LOT lately, so he hasn't been online much. He's coming to visit me this weekend though so I'll make sure he gets it done.

Thanks Jeremy.

Stuff just looked the same as what I sent everyone. The fill color on the last names, logo, and numbers was dark gray and not black, that was what needed to be changed.

Guys Deb from the Badlandz just called me, wanted to know if we were going to play in this Months Chi-town Event. I already told her No, we weren't planning to play any more events until after PSP. Just wanted to let you guys know however that They really appreaciated (SP) us playin in the series.

Steve, Jeremy

Miranda says she thought she had blue but there is none and no telling when there will be more. All She's got right now is Yellow and Clear. I can hold off on the blues till they get some more, but I dont mind getting some yellow ones for myself.

INPUT?

yeah were getting blue Evil pants.

Rene, as for the pods, I can hold off until they have blue ones. I already have some blue ones, so I just want to keep with the same color.

And as for the CTS series, I'm all for it. Most of the events are in Indiana, so YOU guys will have to travel farther. The Badlandz Chi-Town series is always going to be up there at the Badlandz, and I think it will be easier for us all to play, since you guys won't have to travel as far.

ok..
sorry my brain went out to lunch when i last posted. I made up my own acronyms (CTS = Chi Town Series in my littel world.) I appologize greatly for the confusion... horribly bad on my part..

My thoughts are to try and play the series we started. Te ChiTown series. If the team votes to not too.. so be it. I will hapiliy play where the team decides, i am just casting my vote.

as for pods.. Rene if you want to order just mine, go for it, if you would rather wait.. i am fien with that too.

I'm for Chitown, as for the PODs I'm ordering yours and mine today. I would like to dye them as you suggested, but I think I'm gonna try a bit of Plastics paint to give it something hot.

In that case I'd like to wait and see what else springs up. I know Stinger is a great field and has had some sweet tourneys in the past, perhaps we could hit them up.

Rene, I find that spraypainting some symbol on your pods works best, because then you can still see if the pod is full, whereas if you painted the whole thing, you couldn't.

yeah I didn't plan on spray painting the whole thing, Just wanted to do some symbol that allowed me to identify my pods later.

I have been looking for the layout, I will make some breakout plans, (because I do noting else with my time)

JDemonpbt
05-18-2007, 04:23 AM
Okay guys, judging by the looks of it, that field will be very open, allowing for alot of lanes off break. Also with that snake design, you can almost bet its going to force alot of teams to be playing the snake more, allowing for some major run-through action to go down. So I think we really needed to focus on that tape the most.
Devin, you said you had a few of our games on video tape? Well if its at all possiable, could you make it out to the Badlandz this Sunday to tape some of the Chi-town tournament? Its suppose to be the same field layout as the Chicago Open PSP. If it is, then just watch to see how most of the other teams are playing the field layout. Mostly watch for Team Chicago Wiseguys. They are leading the Chi-town series event, and they are playing Div4 PSP. So they will be who's best to watch. You'll proably notice too, if I'm right about this, most of those teams will be stacking 2 players into the snake. If thats the case, then judging on how our practice went, I think Zach should take the snake off break, with Devin filling in behind him. Zach's main goal will be "securing the snake" shooting out any other team players trying to take the snake also. Even at the expense of trading himself out for a one for one. Devin, will then fill in the postion behind Zach, and will be taking those "Crossfield" shots into either the Green zone, or Blue zones. Now Devin, the most important thing to remember with you and Zach filling in the snake is, control the majority of it. Push for all of the snake up to, Red4. Those temples in the middle will really make teams battle for it. I'm thinking also, Rene, just like we practiced, you've gotta take that back corner (Red5) to help watch any potiental run-throughs in the snake, and also watch Green 1. Once Zach and Devin have control of the snake, you gotta focus hard on Green 1 or anything moving up the blue zones. Now the other 2 people (Rotate between Ally, Steve, and myself) will have to focus on playing the blue zone tape, and the back center. Guys consistancy is going to be the key to this field.

I'll get to work on the layout. I'll post em up in a bit.

JDemonpbt
05-18-2007, 02:03 PM
Ok Here is what I'm finding out from the field as I work out some of these plans and lanes.

1) Were going to have that blind spot once again in Blue Zone. Someone needs to Post up on the small dorito in Blue Zone 5 then 4. This Player needs to be supplemented by someon in the Temple on Blue Zone 5, from there you'll be able to keep an eye on the blind spot in Red Zone 3 while Blue Zone 5 and 4 cross's the field on Green Zone 1 and 2.

EVERYONE: Please keep in mind all of this is not set in stone. It's only to give you a rough idea. Please submit any and all ideas so I can map them out and display them for you. Remember, we all need to work in unison to make this happen. Everyone must visualize thier plays to it's fullest extent.
tly what I was thinking.AOG: If you want to see us win and you have any ideas for us please share!!! We need to kick some Ass!!!

Exactly what I was thinking.

So apparently the day we can walk the fields is June 19th. However, I didn't ask off work for that day and so as a result I'll not be there that day. Apparently, we can walk the fields at the end of the day after all the matches are done. I was also wondering how long everyone is planning to stay, etc. Let me know.

I plan to get there on Thursday evening, (Pending since I don't have place to stay for that night) As for the rest of the week, I have 2 rooms reserved at the Hampton Inn in Bolingbrook. Now I only need 1 for myself, but the other room is open for anyone that wants to use it. They just need to pay for the room themselfs. I can't afford to pay for both rooms for 2 nights each.

ARE GAME PLANS AREN'T FINALLIZED. Besides the game plan we've discussed is just a thought. I would like to hear other people's input on the plans. Also, most teams will have about the same/similar game plans.

I agree about keeping game plans to ourselves, I also agree this just may be common enough that we won't lose anything by having posted it now. But we should keep all future plans and thoughts between ourselves. I'll be removing the pictures pretty soon so make sure you've got them or ask me for them if you don't.

I think it's time to put our good friend steve's Google Group to good use. I think we should get together on it's group chat to discuss further details.

Yes, Jeremy I did get your package, need to find a rubber strap wrench before I can install that sucker.

The bad news is that Animal is taking forever to send me revised proofs/proofs of the headbands, or any info concerning those. It took Angie about a week and a half to respond to my last revision, and it WASN'T with a revised proof, or proofs of the headbands. It was merely to say and I quote, "i didnt change a thing can you check your computer see if you sent the right one". Getting a bit annoyed, to be honest, but we'll see.
