do I actually need to remove the reg just to clean behind the eye covers? or can i just slide the eye covers off by removing the plug for the valve? I dont want to remove the eyes i just want to clean the chop that is behind the cover!

I'm able to remove my eye covers without removing the reg. That is strange. I do not have a problem at all removing the eye covers. I do not have to remove the reg. Weird.

after all the videos and advise read on removing the eye covers from my Angel, removal was simple, however putting them back on the marker proved more difficult than first anticipated......... :( now its a 1 hour drive to get new eye covers in order to play sunday, the bonus will be getting it teched and hopefully spend some hard earned squids on a few extras :)

One tip we give our customers for putting the eye covers back on (especially new ones that have not streched out a little form being on the marker) is to put a cup of water in the microwave for a couple of minutes and then soak the eye covers for about a minute in the hot water, remove from water (don't burn yourself), dry off, and attach, the hot water softens them just enough that the don't snap (this seems to be an even bigger problem in the winter from what I have seen, simple fact, cold and plastic do not mix...).

Of course trying the above is done at your own risk, and dont OVER stretch the eye covers when they are hot or they will not hold tight to the marker.

I used a hair dryer to help put mine on.

Thanks lads for the advise will take all into consideration when trying this again.... Chris from London Paintball Supplies, was really helpful also showed me a little trick for putting them back on, using a tappered highlighter pen. Made me feel like a complete noob after ripping mine apart :) Was totally BLOWN away sunday weather was cold and windy, put 3 boxes through the angel and did'nt break a ball.... never owned a marker like it :)

the "card" trick on the video doesnt seem to apply to the newer & stiffer covers. It looks so easy on the video but was that done on the softer eye covers or the stiffer ones?
any other tricks? a microwave & a hair dryer might be a bit hard to find when your at a pb field.

So do you have to remove the reg or not?

skilz
05-13-2007, 07:38 PM
Nope, there is absolutely no reason to remove the reg, unless you want to clean/lube it.

So what exactly needs to be removed then to be able to clean the eyes?

Just the eye cover strap... the eyes you can then pop out and wipe off, same as the detents.

Anyone know an online store that has the A1 three piece eye covers in stock? I've been waiting for actionvillage to get them back in stock for some time now, they sold out within a few days the last time I saw them on the website!!! Also, does anyone have them on an A1 or have they heard any good things about them?

I got mine when I bought a field kit from fixmyangel.com

To get the 3 piece covers, call Angel direct. They have them available. I was one of the people who got the 3 piece covers from Action Village. Trust me, you didn't want them. I got mine, the arms were so far bent inwards that they broke when I tried to put it on the gun. I am getting a few of the one piece covers from Angel tomorrow, I ordered a red highlight kit too, and new eyes while I was at it . That is the only thing that has gone on my gun. I had to get new eyes because I actually forgot one day that the eye covers were broken. I just placed them on for storage. I took it out to chrono at the field, and in the middle of a string of paint the eye covers flew off, and the eye ribbons bent out and broke.
