Like many I am having problems finding Angel Force FBS Tadao Board... Here is my option B, and you guys tell me the pro's/con's.
Other than not being able to use the internal rechargeable battery, having the microswitch upside down and M6 Vs. M7 software (not sure what the differences are yet)...
I was thinking of getting the Lucky UN1 Chip Board for $50 plus the $20 M6 Tadao chip for the Matrix.

Once totalled it is like 1/2 the price of the Angel Force board (which I can't buy anyway right now)... It's hard seeing the negatives at this time of doing it this way. Plus you get the added benefit of switching out chips when they become available (eg Virtue, CodeX, Hater, and later versions of the Tadao). I need 2 boards... so I am thinking of doing one marker with this setup and the other with the Predator...unless the MT's get some in stock in the next week or 2...
Anyways, tell me what you guys think...anyone have this Lucky UN1 Board, and if so which chip are you using?
Thanks...

I thought of this too. I mean its a little less than half price with very similiar performance. Im pretty sure the Lucky board is a quality product too, last time I checked BOB had them on his site(www.fixmyangel.com). You might want to look at a NOX chip too, they are pretty good as well
I personally ended up not having to make the choice as I bought a GAT with a Tadao already in it. Im no help, I know:dunno:

It sounds good to me I am /was thinking of doing the same thing to my 02 Angel Ripper.

Setup in my 2k1 LCD. I haven't had anyproblems other than it doesn't fit exactly like I think it should, but that's just me, I'm a bit picky about things.
I have several aftermarket boarded Angels, along with a few stockers, and I can honestly say that the Lucky/CodeX setup is just as fast and reliable as any of the others. I also like the fact that they use a multi-color LED to let you know which register you are in. That is my only gripe about my Predators.
As I replied in another post, the ability to swap programs on the fly is really nice, and the Lucky is perfect for that.

I was in the same situation as the original poster and I went ahead and got the Lucky board w/ Tadao chip combo. I bought the chip and board new and I still saved about $30 compared to the Tadao Angel board.
My only complaints with this setup is the buttons on the board do not extend out far enough to touch the external buttons. It can make for turning the gun on/off a pain sometimes for someone with large hands as myself. Also, the connectors that plug into the board for the battery did not want to stay in when I first got it. Otherwise I have been extremely happy with this setup.

Just out of curiousity, why did you only save $30? Isn't the Angel Force $150 + $10 shipping, and the Lucky board $50 + shipping + $20 for the tadao chip + shipping? I would think it would be under 80 shipped, which should be around an $80 savings right? I could be completely wrong about this, so I am not disputing what you are saying, I just need some clarification before proceeding on doing this setup. Thanks!
Anyone else do this setup? I wonder if Lucky is going to come out with improvements, or updates. Sounds like longer buttons, and better battery connectors...flaw101 how did you remedy the battery connector thing???

I ordered from Compulsive and bought both items new. $48.95 for the board and $70 for the Tadao M6 chip + shipping. I know I could have found the chip cheaper used, but I didn't want to spend time searching and getting in contact with people and so forth.
As far as the battery is concerned, I didn't do anything special. Once I got them plugged up I made sure I got the battery hooked up and in place quick. I guess I will see how much of a pain it is once I change the 9v out.

Is this $20 M6 chip directly from Tadao not the right chip? Or did they just recently cut the price dramatically???

Must have missed this reply...

:
Do they really? I was under the impression that none of the MT's had them in stock... If that is the case I will just buy the chips from them (might as well spend more and give back to the sponsors who help maintain this site, right?).

I think the $20 pricetag is what Will charges to upgrade your chip to the latest code. I couldn't get the link you posted to work so I'm not 100% sure as to what you saw.
Here is the link to the Dm4/5/C M6 chip from Tadao's site.

$70 plus shipping.

I see your link and I think I maybe looking at the wrong chip, I am looking at the product upgrades section..
Here is what it says on this link:
Price: $20.00
The M6 Matrix Upgrade Chip allows you to easily upgrade your Tadao 5.0 Matrix board to Musashi 6 software. No mail-in is necessary, you will simply receive a new chip that can be plugged into the socket on the board.

I believe the chip you're looking at is for the original tadao boards which went in the original matrixes. The UN1 board uses dm4/5/c chips, which are different and more expensive.

I figured there had to be some sort of explanation...and a missing piece to the whole thing that makes sense, and this one seems the most logical. Thanks...

I couldn't wait any longer so I went with the Malicious Intent Code and Un1 Board Combo.

Hopefully this works out good for me, and I will report back my findings. In the mean time does anyone else have this setup? If so how do you like it?

OMG! I can't believe how frigg'in great both my markers work now! I thought they were fine with the Fly Boards, but with this UN1 and Malicious Intent Code chip it is just downright ridiculous! No frills, down to business and easy as heck to program.
There are many, many upsides...Use of 9 Volt, microswitch, sic speed, and (with the UN1 board) the ability to use at least a dozen more chips out there, which makes upgrading a snap...also the malicious code has an ABS feature that eliminated my FSDO, which would occur any time the marker would sit idle for like 10-15 seconds for some reason.
Downsides are only to the UN1 Board itself and not the chip...It only utilizes 2 of the grip buttons...the middle one are left with a gaping hole to plug up, the light is in an inconvenient place on the board, and there is another gaping hole where the power switch used to be.
Other shoots better than it ever has... I was going to upgrade in the near future, but I think I will hang on to these a little while longer. Anyone else using any other chips with the Lucky UN1?
