I have just bought a second hand A4. What are the advantages or disadvantages of the A4 over say the A4 fly? With the standard COPS, will I still be able to trade shots ball for ball with someone with an A4 or better?

The only differance is the A4 Fly has breakbeam eyes and the A4 has sensi/cops wich works great as well.
id say for all pracitcal purposes the a4 is a great gun, but for tournament players who need that extra bit of speed and consistency then they go with the a4 fly since the eyes do a better job than the sensi

Consistancy!?!?
Does that mean there are "issues" regarding the performance of the A4? One of the selling features of the A4 was the sensi. In that it calibrated the feed of paintballs, rather than waiting to see the paintaball in the breech like eyes do.
from the people ive talked to, you have to remember that sensi was the best thing out at the time, but eyes are still better with regards to shooting and not chopping. Don't get me wrong, i actually just got rid of my a4 and the number of balls that baby chopped can be counted on one hand, but for the extra edge that some people are looking for, they went for the fly.

Play with it some and see how you like it. I have an A4 Fly and it is amazing. But a couple of my friends have 03/04 speeds that rip quite well. I played with one of the speeds last Saturday and was impressed how fast/consistent it was shooting with the sensi on.
i agree with boost monkey, i was just about to post what he said, the difference is negligible and its all about what feels more comfortable for you

That's great guys, thank's. As the saying goes, "the proof is in the pudding". Once I re-assemble it, (took it apart to see how it worked, as well as thoroughly clean it as the previous owner must have used it to dig up his back yard and bury a corpse) I'll go and shoot some fools.
I've seen some great info on this site regarding optimum settings, so that's more fun for me to have. Angels rock.:biggthump
