View Full Version : Questions about G7 Tadao Board

Hello, I am thinking about purchasing a Tadao Board for my G7 Fly, but first, I have a few questions (I have already read some of the manual and some posts on here):
1. Is the placement of the microswitch exactly where the opto switch on the stock board is? I ask this because I want to know if I need to readjust my trigger because I just got an awesome "trigger job" by Ken Crane.
2. Is the battery consumption the same as the stock board (i.e. about 25,000 shots per full charge)?
3. Explain Cycle Percent Filter.
4. Are the buttons too easy to press? Can they accidently be pressed during a game, and does the tournament lock help? If the tourney lock is on can the eye's still be enabled/disabled, and can the marker still be put into safe mode while in tourny lock?
5. What is "Z-Burst"?
6. How many Breakout settings does the board have (I am guessing quite a few)?
7. What are the downsides to the Tadao besides no LCD screen ( Be honest!)?

Hello, I am thinking about purchasing a Tadao Board for my G7 Fly, but first, I have a few questions (I have already read some of the manual and some posts on here):
1. Is the placement of the microswitch exactly where the opto switch on the stock board is? I ask this because I want to know if I need to readjust my trigger because I just got an awesome "trigger job" by Ken Crane.I found it easier to set the trigger with the microswitch because when you take the grip panel off, you can clearly see what you are doing and how the trigger moves during the adjustment (and also how it is set in comparison to the microswitch. When I first switched them back and forth (stock board and Tadao) I had to readjust the trigger. It was not nearly as much of a headache as I thought it would be.
Ken also does a trick to the microswitch to get a even a lighter pull. Damn, hope I am OK to say that lol.
2. Is the battery consumption the same as the stock board (i.e. about 25,000 shots per full charge)?I have only charged it a couple times with A LOT of playing. The darn thing seems to last forever with a charge. No joke. I remember when Ken let me test a prototype board it sucked the life out of the battery. They changed something before production and fixed the problem.
3. Explain Cycle Percent Filter. From the manual:
The cycle percentage filter allows adjustment of the point within the current firing cycle that a new buffered shot is allowed. Almost all electronic paintball markers allow a single shot to be buffered in the event the user is fast enough to release the trigger and pull again during the current firing cycle. The CPF setting is adjustable from 1 to 10. Setting 1 turns the CPF off, allowing buffered shots at any point in the firing cycle. Setting 2 through 10 sets the percentage of the firing cycle that must pass before shots may be buffered.
This is almost like a ball in place (BIP) setting. I turn it up when I want a little extra in there to help reduce bounce.
4. Are the buttons too easy to press? Can they accidently be pressed during a game, and does the tournament lock help? If the tourney lock is on can the eye's still be enabled/disabled, and can the marker still be put into safe mode while in tourny lock? The buttons are very easy to press. No worries there at all. The tourney lock helps and makes it legal so that no important settings can be changed when you are on the field. The eyes can be disabled with the tourney lock on. I will have to check that for sure. Almost positive that it can be changed.
5. What is "Z-Burst"?Z-Burst is:
· The first 3 shots of a string are semi-automatic
· After the 4th shot the marker will burst fire from 2-3 shots per pull depending on how quickly the trigger is pulled and released
· If the user stops firing for more than 1 second, the 3-shot semi-automatic count starts over
I can't explain it any better than that.
6. How many Breakout settings does the board have (I am guessing quite a few)?Yup, there are. With all the different Gangsta (Breakout) settings, you get a total of 36 combinations.
7. What are the downsides to the Tadao besides no LCD screen ( Be honest!)?To be honest, the missing LCD screen is my only complaint. I thought it would be a pain in the butt to program it using a LED because I really thought I'd miss the LCD. I was way wrong. It is easy to program and to me, the microswitch feels so much nicer than the opto trigger. The microswitch feels more responsive to me.
I hope that helps! If you have any other questions, post them here.

Sweet! We'll expect a full review when you have had a chance to play with it.
You got real lucky because it doesn't sound like there are many left!

I am very curious about this mod, I love a light, loose trigger.
From the forums on FMA, Bob makes it sound like a re-release of the tadao board will occur before christmas. So all the people looking for boards (myself included) will be able to snag one.

I am trying to get rid of mine actually. It was great but I got rid of my g7 recently and I kept the board.
