Do i have to have a LP tank for my A4??

No, it can run on HP and LP.

I head that if i run HP there is a chance that I wont be able to get the velocity down, and if this is so then i could take a spring out of the mini reg and this should solve the problem.

At the very top of the previous page, an inch above the main thread list there will be ken crane's recommended settings. Click and scroll down to the mini reg mod, do this then a hp tank will work properly with your gun.
