I aired up my IR3 yesterday and tried to get it chronoed in for when I go to play in a week or so. I set up my chrono and turned the gun on and shot a few shots over the chrono. 163, 167, 165. I turned it up. 240, 180, 167. I turned it up again, as well as turning my input pressure up from 450 to 500. 180, 178, 167. Any ideas? The gun is stock except for the bolt which is a New Designz delrin bolt and I use an Air American Armageddon reg with a 88/45 tank. I only had 1k of pressure in the tank but that should be enough dont you think? I had the dwell at 14.
Every 70,000 shots you need to replace the valve stem. This could be it or your not getting enough air through the regulator. Also check your lpr pressure should be 95 to 100 psi.

Thanks for the reply. I will try turning up my second stage reg and this gun is NIB with 3k cycles on the trip (just from messing around, about 100 shots actual).
Well if it i new it will require a break in period.

I will give it some time to break in... I adjusted my reg up to 700 psi instead of the paltry 450-500 I was running it at and it sounds alot better, I havent shot it over the chrony yet. I also upped my dwell to 16 instead of 14 but if it works fine at 700 I will drop the dwell back to 14 and see whats up then. Thanks for the patient responses, I am a major angel newb. I am very glad to be amongst such a family though, angel FTW!!!

The dwell is a bit high, you will be using a lot more air then you need to. With the air tank you have id say keep your tanks input at 700 and the LPR around 90 and drop the dwell to 12, if the dwell isnt working for you drop it to 11 and try that, if that doesnt work go back to what you had it at. Also with only 1 k in the tank your going to get inconsistencies more so then if you had 2500 or 3k in it.

If you drop your dwell that much you better by a new valve stem....:boink:

Yeah I think I will try to lower the dwell down to about 13, the consensus on IR3 dwell seems to be 14 but I will try to lower it as much as possible. Thanks for the reply. As soon as I get this gun set up its going to rip!
The lower the dwell the greater chance of FSDO (first shot drop off).

a simple upgrade to avoid the FSDO is to put a small volumizer on the LPR and get an AKALMP Tornado Valve or some kind of low pressure high flow valve, should decrease gas usage and shot to shot consistency
