Also....will they be releasing software to allow us to flash the board?

I tried connecting and no luck. I plugged in and I got the screen that says install software from cd or from another location so it appears that software will need to be released at a later time or may just be used only for updates so until an update is needed WDP won't release anything. I thought it may be like some other USB devices where you can just connect and be able to use it but guess not. So just be patient for anything that will be released, there's really no need to connect to the pc becuase everything is easy to access in the board itself, the only reason would be to update teh software and fix bugs.

other devices work becuase they behave just like a hard drive (digicam, USB memory stick, etc.) This is interfacing with a board with many settings. There is no way the computer would "know" how to talk to it without software.
I do hope they release this to the public. I like the idea of flashing the board ourselves. Keep up to date without sending the marker away.

yes the usb works real well and simple. used it many times. the flasher will be released as soon as it is nessesery or a software upgrade has been developed that requires the release.DONT!!! TRY AMD MESS WITH YOUR SOFTWARE. IT WILL REQUIRE YOU TO SEND IT IN IF YOU CORRUPT THE BOARD.

Thanx for the heads-up Ken. I am more curious now - will this be a one-way dead-end utility w/o an embedded backup prior to updating/flashing the marker? I see this with other devices (routers, switches, etc...) often and it always tweaks me out when the developers leave you with the equivalent of a toaster if something goes wrong during an update.
Furthermore, would this be a warranty-covered repair, with the customer/owner paying only S&H, or will there be an ID10T charge involved if we have to send a "corrupt" board in? I am not trying to get you to commit to anything specific - again, just curious.
