Hey all! New to the group - thanks for the great info.
I've been a Cocker player since the mid 90's - but times they are a changing. With more custom cockers then are useful, it's time to sell off something and come over to the Angel side.
I'm looking for info and thoughts about what people feel is the best custom built IR3 currently on the market. I'm sure there is a thread on this somewhere on the board, but I haven't been able to find it. Basically, I don't want to make any compromises - i.e. a nice design, consistency in the gun, top end parts, ease and reliability of technical service from the maker.
My impressions thus far:
Impact:
I like the look of the cut and I know Mark and Jim and have always been impressed with their work. I just find the prices they have for the angel's higher than all the rest.
Dark:
Biggest selection of guns with a good array of prices. Pretty much anything you want. I've just had friends which have had a bit of trouble getting service from them.
Cobra Mamba's:
Nicest cut. Middle line price
Bonebreak:
Can't find much info.
Angel Parts:
Best price for a nice cut but not a lot of options on the gun.
WDP:
The fly is great, but is it missing things that the custom shops offer?
I'm sure I'm missing some here so whatever I've left out, let me know.
Thanks for the enlightenment.

ok well a couple of things..each angel is going to perform the same as any other angel no matter what people say its the same stuff. The only thing that is different are the parts and the colors and the warrantys
the impacts are made beautifuly i believe the nicest milling ever..And there also cheaper now. Not at 1700 anymore aorund the 1500 area.
The darks im not a fan of cuz there is nothing special about them.
Also the cobras nothing special
thing with the impacts they stand out more

i have a dark and i think it's pretty cool..but really i'd look at the fly from wdp. i like the cut on it...it's not too fancy and i just like the "non-busy" look of it.

I wouldn't take anything other than my fly. For $1350 I got a Black Dust Fly IR3 with Mem6 COPS2 OptoBoard. It looks great and shoots even better. Plus, it has a low rise gated feed, and some of the best annodizing i've ever seen. Go fly.

On the contrary, I think anything you buy from Warped Sportz, you will be satisfied with. The darks have very nice milling, I like it alot better than any of the WDP models. Another one to consider is the Rock IR3. It's got, in my opinion, the nicest milling of any IR3 on the market (I think the impact looks too much like a toy, something you'd find in a GI Joe package). And Warped Sportz has SPECTACULAR customer service, and lifetime warranty. Go with a Dark, a Rock or a Class IR3, you won't be dissapointed, they look sweet and Warped is great company to do business with. Performance wise, all angels are basically the same, no company makes them any better than another, so basically your choices come down to cosmetics (and we all know that it's ALL about lookin' good)

Go with an Impact. They have the greatest Customer Serivce and Mark and Jim are great techs. I love the look. Mine's Green to Black. You also get the Impact trigger with a volumizer and a lifetime warranty. Get an Impact, you won't regret it.

Well.... they all pretty much shoot the same out of the box. I have tested an Impact, Cobra, and Rocky(mine) IR3s and they all pretty much seemed the same. The only differences are the milling and the weight. Other than that they all pretty much shoot identically.

it is all about personal preference... the paintball guns are like girls... you see, you see all different kinds of girls... classy, cheap, ugly, hot, fat, skinny, heavy etc... and you'll see like all of these girls with a guy... so get my point?
ps ugly people shouldn't reproduce...

iR3 prices are dropping as more and more people jump on the Speed bandwagon. You can get some great buys on used ones made by a variety of customizers. The milling preference is up to you. As others have indicated previously, all iR3s shoot essentially the same. You just pay more for the name, the special milling, perhaps a few "performance" add-ons, and their added warranty. If you're looking to get a completely new Angel that emphasizes function more than cosmetics, you may also wish to add Speed to you list of choices. Nothing wrong with the iR3 if you really want one though. I own a AALCD which I'm perfectly happy with and recently added a used Warped CLÅSS to my collection. I held on on getting a Speed only because it's fairly new and I wanted more options (which are sure to come with time) than are offered now.
