View Full Version : Why does WDP do this?

While I dont speak for everyone I know this is how I feel on the matter... Wdp comes out with guns and always ALWAYS does this teaser BS where they give you some computer generated photos or a single picute at a poor angle. At the same time people have lots of questions which all go unanswered until the marker actually is released. What frustrates me about the whole thing is that they let people pre-order and pay a some odd $1300 for a gun that no one knows ANYTHING about. Would it hurt so bad to give people the information about it before the marker is released so people can start to make their opinions more educatedly. I dont see one thing wrong with giving specifications and pictures before the release of a WDP marker.
thoughts?

I agree. But I'm more angered at the fact that they come out with 3 markers within a year! Why can't they just come out with a gun every year!? Planet Eclipse does it and they are doing fantastic! I hate how after I bought my A4 with one year, the price dropped from 950 (how much I bought it for), to 500....

For some, it generates excitment and whips people into a feeding frenzy. For others, they just get pissed about not knowing more. Either way, it is funny to me and I like the ride.
I freaking love seeing the publics reaction either way. I love how some people will state "That is it! I am buying an Ego". My response? "Good, more Angels out there for the rest of us! lol".

thoughts? That is the key: they "let" people predorder, they do not make people preorder. People that preorder are doing so of their own free will. I would bet that most are ordering based on WDP reputation and their experiance with past Angel models. Some people choose to wait and some don't. It is a matter of what YOU want to do with your money.

No one is MAKING you pre-order it. If you enjoy being an early adopter of new markers, then you enjoy the teasing. I know I do. :) If you don't like it, then don't pre-order it.
Don't ruine the fun for those of us that enjoy this type of thing.

WDP will give us all the information we need to know to make an informed purchase once the gun is released. If I were a manufacturer, I would not pin myself down to any specifics until that shizzle was packed, wrapped, and shipped to the retail outlets. It is not fair to be unahppy with WDP because you're impatient for information about an upcoming product to be release before the product itself is released.
The irony of people complaining about not having Angel1 info yet, while simultaneously being frustrated that WDP is coming out with another new gun too soon astonishes me. :plug:

Haha, some people just need to relax. I think it's cool that WDP does this with a new marker. If they never told you about it, and just released it, you'd never have a clue they were making a new marker till it came out to the public anyway.
If you've shot Angels before, then you know what they are like. I've had 4 Angels now, and have never been dissappointed with any of them. If there's one thing WDP is known for, it's making a damn good marker. So sit back, relax, pre-order if you like, and enjoy the ride. It will come, don't worry!!

who cares? If you shoot it and you dont like it, sell it right away and you can get almost as much money back as you spent. If you do like it consider it a good investment despite the dropping price. its not obsolete as long as it shoots paintballs.

Impatience is the key word.
For true Angel lovers, the excitement just escalates to the point of climax (release date ).:bouncer:
Has any of the complainers ever heard of what's called a "movie trailer"?? for a new movie. Can you see the whole movie before it comes out? NO!! (unless your a industry insider) This is called "Hype" it builds up interest......
"dammit who does WDP think they are doing this!!"
Look at that comment and see how foolish the complaining is now.
The company does what they are good at and just roll with it and be happy at the finished product.
And please for the sake of the WDP Gods don't complain about your gun you think now is not worth crap. If you like it keep it no one is making you buy this. I would like for certain to close and ban people that complain about the value of your now "outdated" Angel. It's not like all of a sudden your pre "1" Angel is gonna shoot any slower or become heavier because a new model came out. Take a chill and sit back and let the good times roll.

A. you don't have to sell it...so you don't have to lose any money.
B. you could always buy a generation or 2 behind and take advantage of the low prices
C. all electronics, computers, cars..etc.. lose value as soon as you buy them....it's the way things are. You should not look at your marker as an investment...consider stock and bonds instead.

Just another complainer “jumping on the band wagon” (means joining the trend)
Put things into perspective.. How much is the PC you are using worth now, compared to 6 month ago????
Now that’s getting ripped off.
By the way no one is forcing you to purchase a WDP product, but are you saying the other manufactures are different??
This old thing is old, boring, and just dam right idiotic comment now.

I agree with shades...the other manufacturers arent different...I work at a store and i remember when we 1st opened in 2003 one of the 1st guns we bought was a species intimdator...biggest mistake ever...
bought for 1294 and the is wholesale cost ladies and gents...they expected me to sell for 1495... can now be had for under 500 ....big deal ??!
1st of all yeah what do you expect its 3 years old things depreciate as technology and R&D advances and 2nd of all it's a crappy timmy its not even worth the 500 LOL
And whoever said they were buying an ego cuz they got tired of waiting is a feaking moron..good luck with your loud ass lego...

thh wdp relasing alot of guns in one year is also because of technical advancements and other companys. Angels a known for being some of the best guns in the world. if there is a new thing they want it in their guns to make it better. also the other companys relaseing new products. . The speeds were made so someone could have the angel proformance at a cheaper price so some of the fetures are sacerficed. Like the 05 speed and A4 fly. The 05 speed has the A4 noid, eyes, detents,
trigger wheels, and other features but instead of a LCD it has the LED, a 9-volt instead of recharge able battery, and others. same with the 06 speed and the G7. the G7 fly was the same as the g7 but with different milling. the speeds are ment to be sold at a lower price.
also the other companys are all relaseing new guns so wdp needs to keep up. planet eclispe also is releasing new guns to keep up with tech and other companys, but in a different way. They release new guns as privet label guns. The privet label guns have more fetures, are released latter on so to have features that also compete with the other companyes, look a little different, the fans of that team want that gun. they still call it a ego(xsv ego), but it is different. but not like the way wdp dose it. they usally make a whole new gun.

So Planet just come out with one gun a year, you have the Ego 06, Nexus, Warped, Pevs and SL66.
You could group these into 3 sections
Ego 06 + Pevs = Angel Speed
Nexus + Warped = G7 Joy, Arsenal
SL66 = G7 Fly
Sorry, but Planet don't look to be any different than WDP, they're just giving us choice.

QFT! only reason why angels go down in resale so quickly is because people expect them to, so therefore they reduce the price when they sale it causing everyone else to have to lower their prices.

You're kidding right? They aren't different platform of guns that Planet releases. You can't even throw in private labels because Planet doesn't release those. The others are Team guns (like the Joy and Arsenal). They released ONE platform, not three like WDP. There's a difference.

And that is a problem? Do you need to get back on the short "whinny" bus with the rest of the tards? :notsure:

Sorry that WDP is big into improvement and advancement. They redesign their entire pneumatic system every year. Whats wrong with that?
Just because you dont have the newest Angel/Marker out doesn't mean that your gun is now bad.

Hey, since you want to bitch about Wdp releasing a bunch of new models each year, maybe you should know that planet eclipse is releasing something called etek. They're not currently releasing any more info as well, therefore doing the same thing Wdp is supposedly doing. Well if you would rather wait for that to come out, then go ahead.

I'm just saying compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges. I'm not whining; I could care less how many they make in a year, but if your going to try to compare something compare correctly. I own a new speed and a new ego, but my resale didn't hit the floor on my ego. The main reason is that people still want the gun and they aren't allowing them to be sold for so cheap. Some Angel owners seem to not care and allow the guns to be sold for so cheap so that it drives the rest of the market down. Thanks for being an idiot though.

people aren't allowing anything to be sold so cheap. When you go to sell your gun and it sits for sale for 2 months and nobody even offers you close to what you want cause they're so damn cheap then it's not your fault or because of wdp. Your ego will hit the floor too after the next one comes out, i tried to get one in the store i work at to sell and my boss said they depreciate to quickly for us to try to sell it thus we wouldn't make much of a profit. THANK YOU for being a ****ing moron.

You can see in this forum where people try to sell a 05 speed for 450-500. On other forums people sell it at anywhere from 320-400, and I've seen less -- if they are "quiting." Therefore, you can see that it automatically drives the price down when someone is looking for an 05 speed and sees one that is 320 bucks. They then come on here and say, "§§§§ I'M NOT PAYING 450." So your gun doesn't sell. Think. It really does help. Sellers make the market, not buyers. That is why you pay 300-400 dollars in markup on a gun, not what you want to pay. Look at AKA markers, it's a bit different since they don't make anymore, but they keep a running market value of different guns. People don't usually undercut everyone else. Why? It drives down the price of everyone elses guns.
My teammate bought his 05 speed for 1,000. Three weeks later he was pissed when I bought an 05 speed for 500 bucks. This was last year when I bought the gun; This is what people are trying to get for them now. Don't tell me people aren't allowing them to be sold so cheap.
Like Trigga Nometry said though, they aren't investments. I am not claiming they are, but 50% depreciation on a gun, in a VERY short amount of time, is pretty crazy. I don't mind though; I just get cheap guns from idiots who'll settle for less than everyone else.

QFT..
There are Gun whores who buy and sell all the time, just so they get to play with them like a 5 year old wanting something new every 5 mins. Thats ok if you have the cash to burn.
There are also lowballs who try to make little cash out of buying and selling. These are the ones who make the secondhand market unstable.
I buy an Angel purely because it feels good in my hands when i play. For those ranting and raving about secondhand prices, you should well know by now paintballing is not a cheap sport.
If your worried about losing out on a new marker within say 6 months from purchasing it, why did you buy it in the first place ?

the only reason those guns are being sold so cheap on these forums is because they know that they can't get anymore and more than likely, people will try to get them to come down on that price of 500 dollars. Believe me, if they could get more than they would. Those people didn't just wake up that morning and say "i think i want to sell my gun for a whole lot less than i payed for it". NO. They did what i've done before, they added up the value of everything they bought and subtracted a slight amount for depreciation and the fact that people are so damn cheap and then put it up for sale. When potential buyers wouldn't even offer close to their asking price, they eventually had to just bite the bullet or not depending on whether they needed the money or not. I tried to sell an 01 lcd awhile back for what i thought was a reasonable price since i needed the money and nobody would even offer me close to what i wanted. I couldn't even get one guy to throw in an extra $50 bucks on the price he offered me $50!!!! Give me a break. So I kept the gun because I'm not giving in to a buyers market.
