View Full Version : Couple of questions.

First, I love my 05 Speed and has been flawless since it's initial hiccups of breaking paint the first few cases.
Other than that, perfect.

Now the questions.
I just bought an Evil Valve kit for the Angel, installed it, and had a gas leak from the valve.
I consider myself to be a pretty good gun tech so figured the threads on the exhaust valve we're cutting the o-ring and went with a different o-ring, reinstalled the new valve, same thing.
More gouging on the o-ring so thought I'd use the factory o-ring on the factory valve, installed it, same thing.
I'm about out off o-rings and hate having to completely disassembe the marker every time I install the valve kit.
I'm also aware that if I reinstall the factory valve back into the marker, may encounter the same problem with the threads playing havoc on the o-rings.
I've tried everything to keep the o-rings well lubed when inserting the valve kit but to no avail.

Has anybody had this same problem or should I have just stuck with the factory setup?

Second, when I first got the Angel, got a volumizer for the marker along with an Angel Tool Kit because I knew I'd need the Tool Kit to keep the Angel running smoothly and to tinker with the settings a bit.
I love to tinker and make my marker the best it can be so thought the volumizer would be a good start.
Once on, set the LPR to about 60 psi and has been blissful ever since.
Now the question is, do I really need the volumizer on the Speed?

Aesthetically, the Speed looks best without the volumizer but if it offers some degree of efficiency or something that is helpful in any way, will want to keep it.
What do you think.

I don't post much on these forums but love my Angel and want to do what's best for making it reliable, efficient, and better than stock.
Thanks for listening.

Well, I thought I'd post for some information and with 20 views, would think that someone could answer the least of the two questions.
Anyway, I'll figure it out for myself as I'm usually pretty good at it, worked on many markers, and just thought some insight would be obtainable from the legendary AOG.
Guess I was wrong or some thought I'd find the answers with a search.
I did search and found nothing and I've been doing forums long enough to know better.
Thanks again.

If you want your Speed to continue running the LPR at 60 psi then the volumize should still be on there. When you take that off, it will increase your operating pressure some (depending on what size volumizer you have) (stock reduces LPR by 150 psi)...

no clue about the leak, try the stock and get more o-rings

Thank you for the information on the volumizer.
It's not the stock volumizer but one of the older ones with a point on the end and slightly bigger than stock.
Heck, my Angel didn't come with a volumizer in it and said in the book it was supposed to have one.
The Angel has been flawless so far and will reassembe it tonight with the factory valve and new o-ring.

My main concern was if anyone else had changed their valves, if they had the same problem with the threads ruining the o-rings while inserting it into the tube.
It won't matter anyway as I'll just leave it stock and may eventually use the G7 internals down the road.

Thanks again for the help.

the answer is that you don't need a volumizer if the marker shoots fine stock. if it breeaks paint, then yoou might need a volumizer annd a loweer LPR preessuree. mighht be other problems breaking painnt though.

think there is an evolve kit forum here. might go there.

I guess I should've updated the post but I went ahead and replaced the Evil Valve kit with the stock valve and all is great again.
Comparing the stock valve to the new Evil valve was eye opening in that the aftermarket valve was shorter than stock, keeping the o-ring close enough to the edge that whenever I put air to it, would blow out that o-ring every time.
I can only figure that the valve I bought is not for the '05 speed and am happy without it.

On the volumizer, I'm now using the Speed without it.
I played with it Sunday and shot flawlessly with no effects that were noticed without the volumizer.
The LPR is set at about 62psi, dwell at 3, and in PSP mode, ripped some heads off Sunday in one of the best days I've played in some time.

I love this Angel, finally got my All American front for my Freak system, am getting the .687 insert I lost long ago, and will be doing some research on the swapping of the G7 internals into the Speed.
I'm going to make this Speed deadly accurate when it's all done.

Thanks for the help all.
