So, in preparation for today's tournament, I had put together a few things I ordered for my Halo B. My current modifications are BOOST battery pack, Hybrid Suicide Shells, V35 Victory Board, and Critical Paintball Delrin Drive Cone. While I was trying to tweak my G7 Fly to get rid of bounce, my hopper began smoking. Now, I know smoking is a bad habit, and I am trying to quit. BUT, my hopper should NOT be smoking. I just got back and am afraid to open it up. Any suggestions on what to do or what might have caused the problem??? :puzzled: As of right now, the hopper will respond with led's, but no motor spinning.

Well the Boost battery would be my guess. Voltage from it might be just a tad to high. Add the additional current (mAh) this pack holds and motor smoke would be the result. How do I know? Lol, been there and done that. Got my tee shirt that says so to!

So can I save the hopper in any way? Should I ditch the battery pack? Advice greatly appreciated.

What is the voltage output of that pack? Sounds like you need a new motor. They are pretty cheap. Pick up the motor and wire harness (one package) from Ken or Bob. I believe they stock them for a small fee.

motors burnout, it happens the battery pack could have been a factor depending on how old your motor was, i wouldnt change your set up just replace the defective part (motor/wireing harness) and give it another go i mean its just money right ?

I understand its only money, but right after you spend nearly $150, you would hope the darn thing would work better than ever. My hopper was only about 3 months old. So is the stock motor just not that good or something? I'll check the voltage and stuff to post when I get a chance to open the hopper later today.

I have a Boost CPB Boost Battery Designed for Halo B 10.6V 1400mAh. I ordered a new motor this week too and got it in. Okay, closer look, I see the Victory board has fried the little black thing in the bottom right corner when looking at the board head on. Now, what should I do?

Can somebody take a picture of the wires that connect to the Halo board? I think I might have flipped the wire connector around; thus, reversing the power? I just want to make sure before I fry this board.

Okay, I found the wiring diagram I needed and dropped in the new motor. It now works with the stock board, BUT, on a drop test, the motor will not stop spinning when the balls are stopped by my hand at the hopper breech. It keeps on spinning to apply pressure to the stack. I shut it off because I don't want the motor to burn out. Any ideas? I'm totally mind boggled now.

Not sure if I’m shooting in the dark but sounds like your eyes on the Halo are messed up. Quick way to test is turn on hopper and let it free spin. Dimmer outside lighting is preferred for this test as the eyes are pretty sensitive to light. Stick your finger up the hopper feed neck and block the eyes. Hopper should stop. If you then unblock and block the eyes the same as balls passing by the thing should act like it is feeding paint. If it does not act like that after you test it then your eyes are messed up. Check all the connections concerning the wires to eyes for breaks. An Ohm meter would help allot with this. I think another quick improvement is to remove the blue tape the factory uses to hold the eyes in place and replace it with some decent quality black tape.

Give us some feedback!

I tried using Green Marbalizers today and it fed fine. The only problem is, I can't stop one ball at a time with my fingers, the pressure on the stack is pretty strong. I think the problem I had last night was because I was using Orange Blaze or something like that. The balls were orange with slight transparency. The Green Marbalizers had only a few faults while feeding and stopping with the hand, but I suspect it was because I stopped the stack where the balls were not fully covering the eyes. I should be able to stop at a field on Tuesday to test this theory while shooting both slow and fast. Any other suggestions or considerations I need to take? Thanks again for all the help.

Try using a different Halo board and see what happens.

I had to use my stock Halo board because the Victory was fried. It performed as I stated above. I don't have access to another board.
