View Full Version : Getting drop off during string
Played a couple days ago and when i was shooting a string of paint i noticed that the 6th ball just kinda rolled out along with the few balls that followed. I wasnt shooting very fast either so i dont think it had anything to do with tank recharge rates. Im thinking this might have something to do with the lpr(?) but im just guessing. Any ideas what might be causing the problem? Also, this drop off thing only happend about 3 times the whole day so its not like it was happening everytime i shot a string.
oh and i did do a search but it didnt answer my question, as all of the posts the search found were first shot drop off while my drop off occurs during midstream.

Check your lpr pressure, if you've never messed with it, it might be too low. They come from WDP kinda low, yours might just be really low.

Drop off is usually the cause of your LPR. Do you have an angel toolkit?? Your lpr should be from 95-105 psi. If that checks out ok, check your on/off. I was getting this problem because it wasn't screwed in all the way. Give it a try.

And, in left field again...make sure that you are not double feeding. I saw this happen and we were assuming it was a dropoff issue....just something else to check if nothing else works.

If paint is just rolling out of your barrel then two things aren't right:
1. Your ball detent isnt holding paint in place properly
replace or clean and tighten your ball detent
2. Your paint/ barrel match isn't correct
when matching, you want to be able to easily blow paintballs through the barrel. If they roll thru, the barrel is too big. If it takes a HUGE breath to blow them thru, the barrel is too tight.
As for dropoff, an excellent way to test drop off is with a chrono. You'll need to write numbers down too.
Fire 3 slow shots over the chrono, then record the velocity of each.
Next, fire a shot and take note of the velocity. Quickly fire 5 more shots and take note of the velocity of the final shot. Write it down.
Repeat this procedure with 10, 15 and maybe even 20 shots.
If youre noticing a velocity decrease of 10 fps or more between your first and last shots then you ARE experiencing dropoff. The solution is usually simple: raising your LPR.
