Ok guys and girls, its time for a thread that will help you package and ship your products for service.

Now the first suggestion I will make is thoroughly look at the repair centers service procedures. If they have a service form fill it out and include a copy in the box. The guys that work with me will attest to the fact in any given week I receive 3-4 guns with NO paperwork at all. Make sure you detail all of the issues you are having with the product you are sending in. fill in all the blanks including payment methods. Indicate a maximum amount you are willing to spend or clearly document call with pricing. This is a big reason product repairs are delayed because of the telephone tag theory!

Next look at the centers requirements for what they want sent for accessories and what they don’t want. Most service centers do not want barrels, drop forwards, air systems or loaders unless they are part of the problem. Items like this are easily lost or mixed up no matter how hard you try. If you are sending a product for warranty repair please understand just because it’s less than xxxx months old this does not automatically mean it’s a warranty repair. If you have modified, torn, misadjusted or have a poor set up, in most cases this is not a warranty repair. A valid bill of sale is the only method of warranty validation. A “blank” warranty card does not mean anything except that it was never filled out or registered. As of this week all wdp products will have a ship date as well as a date as to what dealer it was shipped to. Your bill of sale will need to reflect a similar date to be validated.
Next, this is one of my pet peeves and mostly my reason for starting this whole thread!!
When you pack your gun the old adage “bigger is better” is not the case. Try and find the original box and go to ups or the post office and get an express or priority box just larger than the stock box. If a stock box is not available wrap the gun in bubble wrap tightly in the box you use. AVOID PACKING YOUR GUN IN PACKING PEANUTS!!! It takes me 10 minutes to remove the peanuts from every orifice in the gun. This WILL cost you more money. The new air bags stink for packaging guns. They blow up as guns have sharp points and edges. Guns with volumisers and evolve kits almost always end up poking holes thru the box. Places like pack and ship stores always forget to include paperwork make sure they include it in the box.

If you ship the gun it’s your responsibility to get the tracking number. You must insure and get tracking information before you leave the shipping depot. It is so much easier for you the shipper to track the progress of your shipment so the service center repairing your product can work not spend an hour a day looking to see if he has received the package.

Guys this is real important stuff. I chose to compile this information based on conversations we all have regarding shipping issues. Hope this helps you as it will really help the folks at the other end!! Ken
