I was wondering with all the moving of proplayers to different teams if these sponser are keeping a record of statistics like in football. Is there some stats available for any of these proplayers. Having different stats for different
positions because obviously you couldn't count just the kills especially with front players. Sacrifices would also come into play and yardage too. And I'm sure that Sponser would have some kind of injury roster. I know PB is still early in the game but with Sponsers throwing big money for some of these players, it would be beneficial for them to keep track. Also, it would stop controversy over who had a better season. Just because a team didn't take the top spots doesn't mean that some of the players didn't have a good run for the season. Is this possible? Maybe I could be wrong but with some of
these Sponsers throwing big money out, it would only be logical that it may come to this one day. Give honest opinions and your thoughts.

i honestly think that would be a bad idea

yea, it would keep track of kills and all that stuff, but who honestly cares?
i mean everyone plays there game..and statistics dont really matter in paintball, its a team sport and without a good team, the players fall.

i dont know if that would make sence to anyone else but me, because i cant explain it right now

makes perfect sense to me, and i agree with it. Plenty of great front men consistantly get killed in games, but do their job good.

Both have very valid points. Kills don't matter much for front men but their position are extremely important. Dennis Rodman didn't have much points for shooting baskets but he was one of the leading rebounders in his day. Safetys do not make many touchdowns, but are very important in stopping the receivers from making touchdowns and defensive tackles also have statistic that are recorded even though their positions do not make the winning plays.
I remember in my day when a baseball player got 5 million dollars for his contract and it was all over the news as one of the highest paid athletes at the time. Now thats considered chump change in that sport. In 1994 would you have ever thought of a professional paintball player making 100K dollars to jump to another team. My question to the general public is if Sponsers are going to start paying big money do you think that they are eventually going to go to a recorded statistic like in other professional sports?

i suppose it'd be possible. But it'd be really hard to record all the statistics. Such fast paced games, especially in Xball when theres so many games. I think it will be more like in high school sports, as in theres not so much a recorded thing of statstics that colleges and stuff look at, but more someone scouting players. Kinda how it works right now. I don't see a big enough benefit to hastle recording all the statistics. But you never know...

A player can win a game, but only a team can win a tournament.

Many kills by one player can also win a tournament

i know, but most paintball players think they are the §§§§ and they dont realize how their team plays a big part in them being the §§§§

like preston said-i dont see companys keeping statistics, but i do see them looking at players more often like colleges do at high school players
theres to many things to keep track of in paintball and the games go so quick, it would be hard to keep track of everything for every player

It would be hard to keep track of statistic, but they do it in almost all professional sports. Especially when company's are sponsering single players. If we look at Pro-Paintball today, then yes the company's only look at team statistics. But think back even 5 years ago, would you ever have thought of a single paintball player making 100k in one year. So what about 5 years from now. I bet the people that played the very first paintball game in the mid 80's would have never thought that the game would have multiplied to the sport we love today. I'm just foreseeing that there will be more individual players making that kind of money in this sport some time in the future. You don't think company's are going to want to make sure they get their money's worth? Give some more insight to this thread.
