Hey all. I am thinking about upgrading from my 05 Speed. What in your esteem opinion should I go with; a used G7 or a new GAT? The G7 would be a few hundred dollars cheaper and of course I could use my Stiffi Switch Kit and my Lucky 15 Barrel Kit on it (whereas I'd need all new barrels for the GAT other than the Dye UL that comes on it). Any opinions would be appreciated (especially by those who have shot both). Thanks in advance for your help.

I would keep the 05 speed and upgrade it,
but if you have money to burn, go with the g7 for the reason that the gat and the g7 are the same internals, and you already have the barrels for it.

Thanks for the reply. I am keeping the 05 Speed. It is a great marker. I just want a backup marker so I am looking for another Angel. The G7 could use all my current barrel kits (Stiffi Switch and Lucky 15) which is a plus, but the GAT could use the same Tadao as the 05 if I bought one. The 05 Speed is already upp'd with a full Evolve kit, a DeZign bolt, low rise feed neck, etc. The only thing that they even make for it would be a rebuildable ram and a predator or Tadao board. However my speed developed a solenoid leak yesterday so that reinforced the need for spare parts and maybe a backup gun as my tournament team only has one extra player so we can't afford to lose people or guns. Anyway...thanks for the reply!

Especially if its a backup gun, I would go with the g7 so that you dont have to dump more money into it. But, with used you get problems. That is where the gat would be perfect. Its new so it should not have any problems at all. It all depends on what you want to do. With the money you save, you could fix the problems if any on the g7 and still have money left over for w/e, or you could just say screw it and get the gat. With all that said, I would still get the g7 for money reasons, and I am not a fan of the gat milling and then on top of that they had to use the new barrel threads.
About the Solenoid Leak (http://www.angelowners.com/showthread.php?t=53775&highlight=solenoid+leak), check that out, it might offer some insight into the problem. If not, post on that thread or contact a MT and you should be good to go.
Any more ?'s or :notsure: , just post.

Thanks for the lead on the solenoid leak. I'd checked that and a few other links related to leaks. It is a continuous leak, but the marker still fires well (although haven't tried to ramp it to see if it has any drop off due to the leak). It had just come back from being checked over by a MT just the other week and went through a 1000 balls without a problem. I'll probably send it back after my next tourney as it could be the solenoid gaskets or based on some other links it could be something to do with the ram (both of which I have no experience playing with). I will probably take your advice and go with the G7 although it seems not to have PSP/CFOA ramping built in (strange that the Speed does, but the G7 doesn't). I have the worries of a used marker, but I avoid all the headaches of breaking a new one in. I also get to use my Stiffi Switch and Lucky 15 barrel sets and it would be expensive to go out and buy another set for the GAT. Maybe if I am still playing in a few years I'll move to the whatever platform Angel is selling. Thanks again for the link and the advice.

No problem, thats what I and we are here for.:drink:
This may sound wierd, but I think WDP hit a homerun with the 05 Speed. Fly internals, eyes, 9v, leds. A basic marker that rips and is reliable. I would only up-gun if something ridiculous came out in the next couple of years, not any time soon though. Ya it would be nice to have a new gun, but why? My 05 Speed has worked flawlessly for me. Now all I need to do is get the Tadao for it and I'll be rippin even more than I am now.
Depending on where you get your g7 from, look it over real good.
Check the mini-reg, ram, all that good stuff to make sure it won't crap out after a month of using it, even if it is a back up gun.

...another alternative is pick up a used Speed05, it would be way cheaper than the other two and parts compatibility and switching would be even easier...
..performance wise there is no difference between the GAT and G7 series, same engine, different body / 'dashboard' ...
..you can use the money saved for more playing time :)

^^yes pleez answer this. I just bought a brand new GAT and its great. It was 750$ at the booth in HB. WDP was selling 06 speed for 8 and the G7 for like 1050 or so. So I would get the GAT, its lighter than the G7fly so why not. Unless you are gonna get a ridiculous deal on the G7 go for the GAT.

The Gat, 06 Speed, G7 fly all have the new threads. The 05 speed, g7, 04 speed, a4, all those older models have the older threads.
Hope that helps.
Any other questions, just post.

I sold my G7 so I could get a GAT. That should answer your question :) . The GAT has a better milled body, but I like the milling on the G7 gripframe better. I like the LCD and LED. Now that I have a LED I have to buy a stop watch to keep track of game time. I used the G7's game timer EVERY game in a tournament, and it was a savior more than once.

I personnaly hate the milling on the Gat. I love the clean lines that the 05 speed and the g7 have. I like the laid back look. Not an aggressive look.

Does that make sense?
