try the battery- if not dark shell and i think white shell paint- eyes have problems seeing them- my friends gat doesnt like dark shelled or white shelled paint- it does the same thing- try using something with a think fill and around the colors of light blue, orange, pink, or yellow

I had the exact same problem today. I'm new to angels so I thought the laser eyes were bad because only the right one was lit up and the other one was not. I was just told that the left eye is "reflective" to the right eye.

Anyways, I was shooting yellow shelled paint today and I had a brand new 9-volt in there.

I overheard someone at the field say that angel eyes can be hard to align properly. Is this possibly the culprit?

Shell color should have very little to do with the eyes. WDP uses a break beam eye system not a reflective system where dark color sheels do not typically work. You should remove the eyes, check to ensure the ribbon is not broken, torn or extremely kinked and re-install. Check to make sure the battery is good and try the drop test again.

I have done most of what you said above. Cleaned everything, checked the ribbon (no major kinks), new battery.

However, when I look for the procedures to do the eye test in the manual it says to "look to the right". I couldn't find the test procedures...am I blind? Not sure what else to do.

If it's not reflective and it's break beam does that mean both eyes should be lit or not? That part had me confused. Up to now everyone has said that one eye is reflective and does NOT light up.

My apologies if I'm hijacking this thread. I'm just having the same problems as POPS so I thought this would be better than starting a new thread...

Thanks,
Scott

break beam means one eye is an emitter or light other is a reciever of light the color shouldnt matter the reflective type emitt out of both eyes and reflect back to eye of source off ball. have you tried reset to default settings. i shot yellow paint this weekend no problems

i dont know if you can or have unplug eyes, you may have plugged up backwards from trigger frame but this could be possible that your reciever eye is trying to emit which isnt allowing contacts to make when paint breaks beam. i dont know if this is true but i work with light curtains which are big break beams.

with my gat the lpr was off i had to add 4 shims to get marker up to 65psi may not be recharging sufficiently but i dont think thats the problem cause you would have dop off on long strings of paint.

also your dwell settings may be to low for paint & last but not least your trigger could be to light set mechanically try adjusting it out or longer stroke. i have had that problem be4 where trigger is made all the time. Did your gun run away any when it was working? some

Example turn marker on shoots once then wont shoot again or takes awhile. adjust your trigger pull outnot so light. reason your trigger is making firing contacts but uncabale of breaking contacts due to not enough travel forwards. you may simply be able to adjust with venier wheel. later

Thanks for the explanations and troubleshooting tips. I will try the ones I haven't tried yet.

I have not tried resetting the gun the OEM settings so I'll try that.

I did not notice it running away from me when I shot it with eyes off. It just roped with no problems. FPS was very consistent and no drop off that I saw.

Although I did adjust the venier wheel/trigger, I may not have adjusted it far enough out so I'll try that again tonight.

I have no way of actually testing the LPR PSI, since I don't have the tools, but I know the dwell is set currently at 9, which seems to be the general consensus as a good safe setting.

I was about to order a new eye ribbon and just go from there. If it fixes it...I'm happy. If it doesn't I'll be extremely frustrated. I read somewhere that a guy sent his bad ribbon in (to Ken Crane I think) and they determined them to be faulty and replaced them. May try that...

Thanks again for the help,
Scott

I am also leaning towards the eye ribbon being bad.
When you first turn the gun on (air and paint can be left off for this), take a look at the led's on the back. Insert your finger into the breech so it will block the eyes, the leds pattern should change as you obstruct and unobstruct the eyes. It's not quite the drop test, but it is one way to check.
If it shoots fine when you have the eyes off, I doubt it is the trigger setting.

Thanks Pops.

Well, I made some progress today with Bob's help. Was able to get the eyes working properly and they passed the eye test. As soon as I put one paintball thru the gun, BAM the same thing happened! This time I pulled the hopper and paint out and the eyes were acting as if they're still seeing paint (could even pull the trigger and sit there for the 2 second delay and then the eyes would "see another paintball"). Took it apart, cleaned/checked them, got the eyes to work again. Repeat of above. As soon as paint was shot, the eyes stopped working. Recreated this 3 times tonight, same results.

I think there's a short in the harness somewhere.

I ordered new eyes from Bob and hope to have them this week. I, too, am crossing my fingers that this fixes the problem...

Got the eyes yesterday and the gun is shooting like a champ. I'm sending in the "bad" eyes to Bob at FixMyAngel to see if they were faulty or not.

GL with yours.
