My PR right now is 315, 2 years ago when i started hitting the gym regularly it was about 185.
its not always how much you bench thats impressive, the important thing is how much you weigh compared to what you bench.

was doing 145 when i weighed about 115, but i prolly cant do much now after not benching for a long time.
Maybe 50 pounds. I am terrible at benching but I can lift heavy stuff pretty easily thanks to my legs.

My best record was weighing 165 lbs benching 265 lbs. My current max (all time high) is 275lbs on bench. I also weigh 200 lbs right now. Oh, I'm 6' even. I'm more of a curl fan. I was repping 115 lbs with the curl bar 10 times on the preacher bench. Looked a little funny with two 45 plates on each side. Good times.

pshh..I can bench 150. and I weigh 175. I was 14. so my muscles arent fully developed and I didn't wan't to push it. Now I can do maybe 155, I'm 15 and I weigh 170. height - 5' 11"
To make it short..I'm young and weak.

Dude, keep lifting (w/out pushing it... you don't want to stunt your growth). You're body will catch up with you. Your numbers for your age and weight aren't too bad. In a couple years (if you keep lifting) you'll see some huge improvements. Keep it up dude!!!

It deffinatly helps me to get more muscles if i bench a littler amount alot, instead of a bigger amount fewwer times.

Depends on what you're going for. If you're going for muscle tone (definition) then what you're doing is good. If you want bulk, you want to go for the latter... lifting heavier weight fewer times. Also, doing pyramids is a great way to get huge. Works for me every time.

Ya thats what I've heard, fewer reps more weight builds mass, more reps less weight builds endurance.
What are pyramids? I need to bulk up.

my suggestion is also pyramids, do a warmup, then 8 reps, 6, 4, 2. another good exercise is like a half press. they make a special bar for it and it restricts movement to about 7 inches from your chest. it helps you break that sticking point where chest kind of hands over most of the duty to tris(before tris reach Lsub0, or where the muscle has the most actin/myosin overlap---most strength)...if you know what im talking about. anyway it should add significantly to your max. my personal best is 425 at a weight of 185, but i have several state records in different weight classes. anyway hope this helps.

thanks samson, im going to look to see if i can get the half bar you were talking about it sounds nice

olie you dont need to buy a special board, these are also known as boardpresses and you usually see the boards laying around gyms. If you nail a few boards together and get the right thickness it works just the same as the special bars.

I can bench like, 135lbs..I have weak wrists....
I cant even ball.....Im wack..100% of the time 4 sure.

instead of using the special bar you can use like a squat rack and a flat bench. just make sure the bar catches about 7 inches from your chest. either way, same principle.

More weight less reps. Self explanatory.
4000+ calories a day. Thats allot. How long would I need to work a day? Also, the reps thing- 8,6,4,2 for excercise. How much of a weight increase do I do between the reps? I am doing 10 lbs right now.
Muscle milk. Is that a codename for a protein drink? If not, what is it and where can I get some and how much does it cost.
Thanks for all the help.
Off the subject, but how many of you guys throw discus or shotput for track? Muscle kinda matters so I figured I'd throw that one in.

4000 calories isnt that much if you workout very intense and want to gain weight. muscle milk is a brand of protein...my personal favorites are Methoxypro and Sci-pro. recommended amount for growth is take in 2x your body weight in grams of protein per day. cost of these products is around 30 bucks for the large container. with the pyramid, i usually use body feedback to determine how much to increase, but on averagy i do 315-8x, 345-6x, 375-4x, and about 395-2x with a warmup of 135-15x, and 225-10x to get the blood flowin. hope this gives you an idea.

Very intense? Does that mean for more than, say, 2 hours?
Also, do you do a cardio warmup before you start your workout?
samson
04-03-2006, 03:26 AM
no, statistics say to cut your workouts to about 45 min. i usually try to keep mine to 1hr 15min or so. keeping intensity up just means go balls out with every set with full concentration on every rep. no BS while you are in the gym. and cardio...i just do it once a week, not a big fan but it is very healthy and a good idea. it will also help keep your body fat percentage down.

I am with you, I hate cardio, but it still remains the fastest and best way to get into shape. Plus, if you run every day, you are guarenteed to be pretty healthy.
How do you break apart your workouts?
Mon-upper body
Tues-lower body
Wed-cardio
Thurs-upper body
Fri-lower body
Is that kinda how you do it? By upper body I mean, arms, shoulders, chest, back and abs. By lower I mean quads, calves, everything lower that your waist.
