I cut the valve spring so the valve is much easier to open. I had my JD running at like 65 lpr and 10 dwell and it was great effiency. but i cut the spring so i could lower the lpr even more. and now i geet drop-off. i assume its because the valve is being held open to long and stuff like that. how could i fix it besides buying a new spring. the sping is cut perfectly. it still is closed all the way, but its a lot easier to push in.

65/10 is higher than what I get on my stock setup (55/8). Efficinecy is at 1 pod per 300 psi on a 68/4500.

You really should buy a new spring.

lesson for the day. to lighten a spring you cant cut it.if you cut it you actualy make it stronger. to make it lighter you need to grind the spring on its sides and make the wire size thinner.

i cut the spring, then put it back in. it was definetly lighter. i compared it to my 05 speed valve. i pushed both valve pins in with an allen wrench. but anyway, i stretched it back out a littloe and got it a little heavier and it works fine now. LPR at 60, hpr at about 190. dwell at 12

best thing to try is take the spring out and tale it to the local homedepot or hardware store aand find anoiher the same size but lighter wire size.

ok, but with a lighter spring, does it make any difference? I mean with it lighter i was getting alot of drop off and incositant velocity while running at the same settings and everything.

Even with the spring cut it could be uneven which would put uneven pressure on the stem slowing it down by adding more friction. As for performance differences, the only thing that I could think of that would improve would be a slightly lower lpr and operating pressure but I am not 100% on that. I would go with Ken's recommendation and go to a good hardware store and get a spring that is the same diameter and length but different wire gauge.

i tried one off a bike lol, i forget which part though. but its reallllly light. i just ptu the stock spring back in. im trying to keep my angel from chopping. its like whenever i start ripping on it, even with a loader delay of 7 on my g1.5 board. its reallllly annoying.

I've heard of using cocker springs but not a spyder spring...personally i have no complaints about the spring that came with my angel but that is just me. (See sig)

yeah but your angel hasn't been fooled around with all the time lol. mine has had about 3 owners before me. and now, the gun chops alot. so if i wanna shoot like ion stauts it works great. but i am looking to shoot a lil faster. il try putting the ram all the way forward. I guess i just want it to work well with RPS premium paint. thats all we can use at this indoor we go to.

I will say this, my guess is that everytime you cut a stock WDP spring.....an MT cries........or gets really, really pissed. Not sure which, maybe BOTH! lol

Don't cut them!

ok lol, i put a new one in and it needs to be a higher lpr. but i put a spyder spring in it too and it works great. but the gun chops all the time and its reallly annoying.

How high is your lpr, what is your dwell setting, and what kind of paint are you using?
