Ok, I just went to lube and oil my 05 Speed. The cupseal finally came out after some bumping around of the gun. I had ti in my hand and the tip of the plastic/rubber, or what ever it is seems to be cracked and able to be ripped of, like a hang nail. Is it broken and do I need for the store to replace it, or is that normal and doesnt need to be worried about?

If it's only the outer edge, you're ok, just don't pick at it. You should be able to see where the seal seats against the valve. Look for the circular indentation (my big word of the day) on the seal, if that looks ok, you should be fine. Especially if it doesn't leak when you put it back together.

One last question...which way is it supposed to go back in? Does the fat butt look towards you when looking directly at the end caps? Or doesn the skinny narrow part face towrds you? Thanks so much...how long will the cup seal last...even if it has started to tear a little...no worries, I wont or ever had picked at it.

The seal should last a long time, like 100 cases. If your velocity starts fluctuating or you have a leak, then you should replace it.
The skinny part goes in first, it is guided by the valve, and the hammer hits the end of it. The fat part is where the valve spring seats.

Ok, thanks for all the help. That is the way I put iit in because that seemed like the mot logical because of the spring set up too. Thanks again.

Also, for future refrence, its not called a cupseal, more of valve stem.
