Hard to tell - Seems to go into a 'sleep' mode when not used for perhaps - 3 or 5 minutes. Never does it during a game - but often off the break it will shut down if I do not fire it between games.

Is this shut down?

Anyway - The PSP is coming to a town near me so I am assuming that I can get my board flashed there.

I simply need the patch to this issue - but is there anything else I should know? I do not need a ramping mode or PSP mode or anything else. Is there a list of the versions out there for the 5peed.

Has there been any problems with the fix to this problem?

Check the helpful links thread. Torwards the bottom. El Pirata made a thread and listed all the current versions for the 05 Speed.

Version 1 - I am not sure on this one and it may have only been a test version
Version 2 - Has 6 tr levels
Version 3 - Has Demo mode instead of the 6th tr setting
Version 4 - Has PSP/CFOA rules installed for the 6th tr
Version 5 - Same as version 3 but it has the bright light shutdown issue fix
Version 6 - Same as version 4 but it has the bright light shutdown issue fix
Version 7 - Improved PSP/CFOA rules

I seem to have version 2.

So version 7 seems to be the logical choice for me huh?

Do you all think, from what I have described, that I have Bright Light shutdown?

Couldnt you fix this temporarily by putting black tape over the top light?

Thats a temp soultion. But it sure makes your gun look fugly. I'd just recommend sending your board off and getting new software. $25 bucks for Version 7. Ken does all my work, but any of the MT's are good choices.

I dont think MT's travel to PSP. Only NPPL. I may be wrong though.

Okay. I wanted to finish this thread off. Sure enough - my 5peed had shutdown issues. I put the Level 7 software on it and it came back to me shooting as fast as it left - but now does not "go to sleep" like it did above.

It was odd - my shutdown never happened during a game - but between games.

Regardless - it is fixed now! Woot!
