I had that same problem - even stripped the heads on the dang bolts! Grrrrrrrrrrr - I've had a love hate relationship with those kind of bolts for years.....

I went to my local hardware store, bought some that actually have like a larger end on them and put one in place of the the original screw. It looks funky, but if the head ever strips out, I can use pliers or something like that to get it out. Unfortunately, the other screw is stuck inside the mount....I even tried an easy out that didn't work.

I had the exact same problem that vikingshadow did (i don't have a gat, but I was dumb enough to purchase the Uni2). After cutting the two screws out, getting a new rail and screws from check it, and having it happen twice, I have since upgraded to the amazing Function Push Button on/off.

Get rid of the Uni2. The regular Check It Uni is far superior. As are most other on/offs on the market.

The Uni2 that comes with the gat uses a spreading rail to lock the rail to the ASA. In order to lock it, you have to not only tighten the 2 screws, but CRANK on it, in order to spread the rails to lock the ASA on. It might sound crazy, but this is the design of this type of rail. Be warned that you MUST use the proper sized allen key, or you will strip your 2 screws.

It took me over 3 hours of angered frustration to realize that this was true, it kinda made me feel dumb afterwards too.:pat:
