I got a laugh when I was at practice this weekend and this kid on the field was giving me a lecture on how an Ion is better than a Angel lol. Well to make a long story short I challenged him to a one on one match x-ball and he accepted (I am going to definitely bonus ball this kid/light him up). However, honestly I don’t know why noobs think Ions are the best guns ever (should they be even considered a “high-end marker”?), I won’t say they are POS because they are a excellent guns for their price but why the f*(k would someone say a Ion is better than an Angel (which is probably the best high-end marker six years running).

If you want to prove Ions are better than Angels, don't use gangsta mode or bounce. Actually, one on one contests don't prove that the gun is better than another, they prove that the player is better than the other - and only if several matches are made.

What you need to do is go the chrono and shoot over it and let him see consistancy. Then you need to let him play a few games with it. Then you need to show him how easy it is to clean and take care of. Then you need to let him admire the "coolness" of the gun awhile.

THEN, if he continues saying that, you take him out and light him up for being stupid...

Well I had an ION an and 06 Angel Speed at the same, and the clear winner on easyness to take care of and over all reliablity goes to the angel without a doubt. Also the trigger on the ION after finally turned was still hard to pull, so it was easy to obtain a higher rate of fire with the angel then it would be with the Ion.
To make an ION a great gun you need to buy 3 major pieces.

1. A new body where that you can take the bolt out out the back, instead of the 8 min. time required to access the bolt.

2. New trigger frame/new trigger which would allow for more adjustments.

3. A new board/noid that would let you go past the 17bps cap, and most importantly have a lighter micro. switch.

Roughly that would be an extra $350 into the gun, but then it would be really nice. I mean it does have break beam eyes, and is lighter then almost any gun available, and the kick isn't that bad.

You know, I've delt with the same kind of idiots. I've had a dumba** redneck argue with me that, there is no way on God's green earth an Angel, little lone any high end gun could shoot above 17bps, and that his stock Ion was the fastest gun on the market. I shot my Angel at 30bps right in front of him, and he then argue that a Sypder Electra could shoot as fast as my Angel. I tried to explain to him, that a Syder was a "blow back" system, and couldn't due to the mechanics of it. He then walked out on the field braggin about how he just turned up his dwell on his Ion, and was shootin better distances then before. I asked him if he re-cronoed his gun since then. He said he didn't need to, cause it didn't change his volcity. I tried to explain to him that his Dwell was "how long his valve was opened", and that the longer the valve was opened, the more air going through it. Thus more air= higher volcity. He said I was full of it, and refused to re-chrono. So I said fine, whatever, I bunker your a** anyways. Sure enough I did.

when someone is shooting hot and you know about it.. you should always.. ALWAYS tell a ref, or someone in charge.

this isnt to be a rules nazi or cos im scared of getting hit by a "hot" gun, but for insurance and safety issues.

all googles are approved to 300FPS (they can ofcourse handle more) BUT if something happens and its a hot gun, then all hell is lose..

not to mention the fact that all this isnt gonna matter one bit to the guy/girl who left an eye on the field due to some kid with a hot gun.

i know i cant stand anyone even associated with IONs........ it must be like an airborn drug that smartparts puts into the gun to make people love it and want to spend billions of dollars to get it to go that crazy 20 BPS!!!!!!!! pesonally ive hated them since the second they came on the seen and like many others obviously enjoy the cocky noobs that sport these peices of crap so that victory is all the more sweet. saddly 2 of the members on my team LOVE ions...... our very own NickyD and a frontman, who i regret to say actually owns one.... sigh ...... anyway i figured id contribute about how much i detest these guns

Yea, my stepbrother got an ion and absolutely hates it. And me of course, I am sitting there telling him,"I told you so." He didn't listen to me. Now he is stuck with the piece of crap. Also, does your team play at PBC at all? I am gonna be out there sunday. PM if you are.

I did tell the refs, but they acted like they didn't care, and I was full of Sh*&. The guy was a regular at that field, needless to say I don't play there anymore. I really don't care much for Ions, exspecially after I mowed everyone off the field, then some kid told me I was really good, and asked if my Dark Rock IR3 (a very rare Angel that costed about $1700 when they were new) was an Ion. I hated them then, but my girlfriend gave me one for Christmas. So what have I done with it? I bought a Warped Sportz Dark Ion kit for it, and have slowly been upgrading it piece by piece. Its not that bad now, for a back up to my two other Angels.

Strengths: My buddies and I went to a local outdoor field (we all got low pressure spyder set-ups) and took out a team of Autocockers and Angels. I dont know what skill level they were but they did not look happy after the game. We rematched again and same results. We dominated even more. Our team just started playing last December '02 so were considered rookies. I love this sport!

Weaknesses: Spyder Haters! Dont get me wrong, I love Autocockers, Angels, and Timmies but those owners look down on Spyder owners.

Review: I had an E-99 with the same set-up as my Imagine. I sold the E-99 just so i can have an Imagine. The Imagine's IPI Electro grip is much more user-friendly than the E-99 Dip Switch grip. Although you get less features (which is no biggy for me), you can change your firing options with a single button.

Conclusion: If your a low budget paintballer, get this gun. Easy to use and maintain.

you have to remember that some people rate the marker in its class...just because they gave it a 10 out of 10 doesn't mean they think its better then an angel.

everyone here use to be a noob so get off these kids' back. ion's are also great guns(especially for the price). i'm not saying they're better then angels, just saying for the price they're pretty good.

It's not so much that ions suck, because I have one. But it's more of they're not a match for Angels. Yeah, you can upgrade them to hell and they'll stand to compete in that high end marker range, but only when you put the money into it and it reaches the same price range as the markers up there. Angels are better stock than an ion is stock, but upgraded, it depends on how the marker is setup. Anyways, in my opinion, Angels are better than Ions but for the price, Ions are good. As for those kids who claim ions are the best, it's because they have a low priced marker that can shoot fast.

And for those bonus ballers, it doesn't prove anything to bonus ball some kid for talking trash. Makes yourself seem even lower, in my opinion, because now you're dropping to their level just to one-up them.

i do agree that they are good for the price. and i also agree that they are plastic and break easily. i for one would know, only because i shot an ion owner in the hand on the field which caused him to drop it about 2 feet. after the game it was leaking air out of the mainbody and wouldnt shoot right.

still good guns for 300$, and thats comin from someone who hates ions. and even more so the ion owners you all have come to hate as well.

I ass raped the guy in the psp tourney I shot him on the slid/bunkered him less than 6 feet away with 10 rounds (but I sprained my left thumb/I think I broke it getting up from the slid lol ).
