It is possible to have it just as fast. You have to worry about giving your neighbors internet too though.
Got to www.newegg.com and check out their routers. I am a huge fan of D-Link, they seem to make the best stuff.

make sure that when you set up your wi-fi router you enable WEP as a shared KEY. Use the key generator usually built into the router, copy the key so that you won't forget it. once enabled you cannot log on wirelessly until you've configured your wireless card with the KEY. this prevents neighbors from getting free internet and prevents anyone from wirelessly snooping into your computers.
Your wifi router has these instructions in an easier to follow method than described above but then I'm just letting you know what you should do.
I've never had a problem playing games wirelessly, like SOCOM 3 where lag would be a major issue. Just make sure where ever you put the router you're also getting a good signal.

You'll need a wireless adapter for your computer too. Here is the one that I have. It works great. If you get a wireless setup make sure you encrypt it.

if i can, how could i hook up my xbox to it? i know i would have to get a wireless router and hook through that, but is that all?
and would greg2 run fine with the 100k?
they have a xbox speed that costs like 79 bucks a month, so i didnt get that, wondering if i actualy need that to play?

Wireless routers have ports on the back so you can plug in devices that arent wireless.

can you explain that? my wireless routers say up to 54mbs and the ethernet says 100mbs.

Most wireless routers can only transfer up to 54MB/s wirelessly. They also have a range of about 300 feet depending on how many walls the signal goes through and how thick and what they are made of. I can pick up 3 of my neighbors routers, none of them encrypted. At my friends house I can pick up 9 wireless routers only 2 are encrypted. The 100MB/s is for the wired ports on the back.
What is the model number of your router.

mine? dunno. it's a combination DSL modem and wireless router from Quest. I can look it up but I know it says 54 MBS for wireless and 100MBS for the cat 5 connections on the back. Doesn't really matter though, download speeds are pathetic.
I too can pick up at least 3 other networks from my house.
