oookkk, kinda phychotic/crazy/obssessed aren't we...
lol, in all seriousness, I would pick the 05, b/c the 05 is only like $800 now, and the 06 just comes with more blinking lights and shiny things, maybe 25-30 more firing modes(lol) that make the newbies go ooohhh and aaahhh. The 05 speed, 31bps, LP, laser eyes, light, cheap(er), and personally I hate the slanted back of the G7 and 06 Speed, it's damn fugly IMO.
It's like the DM5 and DMC, the DMC costs about $300 more, and it weighs a whole 3.4 ounces less!! O.O. those are the only new features on it, besides some small milling here and there.

How the hell is it "fugly" lol. Anyways if price is really important get the 05 speed, but if you are willing to spend some extra just get the 06 speed because it is newer and has newer angel threads that all future angels will have.

There is quite a bit of difference between the 05 and 06 Speed. Pneumatically, it's the same as the G7 Fly. This means different ram, valve, and lpr. The trigger is also more adjustable than the 05 Speed. It uses the same board however, with the version 7 software.(also available on the 05 speed)
The 05 speed is still a great marker, but the 06 is top of the line right now, along with the G7 Fly.

Speed 05 sweet fast marker but still suffers with barrel clime at high rate of fire (whey most peeps stuck the Evolve kit on them, curing this problem)
The Speed 06 uses the same engine found in the G7 on markers but uses the same trigger you find on the G7 Fly, also you will find no kick or barrel clime when letting these new markers rip.
The Speed 06 just has a far better feel over the 05 model. Not knocking the 05 (I had 2 of them) but try them side by side and you will spend the extra trust me.
Biggest difference IMO is that the 06 model eliminates rollback, which, can lead to chopping in the 05 models

05 Speed is probably the most you will need right now. Everything newer really has only changed rollback and kick.
If you are lucky, you can get a good deal on an SPEED 05; I got my Gambler last month for $725.00, brand new, that thing went for over $1000.00 when it came out just last year.

But why purchase knew one of the older markers? They are so cheep second hand why loose more money on them than need be?
Try before you bye…. Then make your mind up... Both great markers but there is more than just a little difference between the two.
Shades, some people don't like to buy stuff used. I tend to be one of those people. I'd rather know that my gun came straight from the factory, and if it doesn't work can be taken care of on someone elses dollar or exchanged/replaced. :) If you buy used and something goes wrong, you're SOL.
