if you keep having problems i have uploaded a script that will resize your image for you .... try this out and let me know if it works out for you

what it will do is ask you to choose an image, it will then resize it and you should be prompted ot save the new image, then save it, go to your user cp and try uploading the newly created image, adventually i will get this option integrated w/ the current avatar options in the cp.
