OK guys, bear with me, brand new Angel owner, just got it this morning!
As sig, so new I haven't blown a ball through it yet, so some newbie questions!
What do I need to set it up best?
Are there any must have options?
Do I need to swap th a Halo Rip drive, or will the Apache do for now?
BTW, got a killer deal, lest than 1/2 price, BNIB, last one at the store before the 06 arrives!

I as well just got an 05 Speed within the last few months. I am a pesron that learns on threads and also with trial and error.

The stock 05 is pretty much all you need for upgrades (only a good barrel kit if you'd like) unless you want a new kit that reduces kit, but the Speed doesn't really have much anyways.
The best thing to do it tweak the trigger and find what fits you the best. Loosen the screws (both sides) above the trigger between the black adjustment wheels, DO NOT REMOVE THEM, just loosen them. Play around with the trigger adjustment and find what fits your style the best. I like playing with my hand held tight to the gun, so my settings would be completly different. Don't forget to tighten them when your finished adjusting the trigger, a few turns will do, don't over tighten.
Any idea what version is on your marker, software?
If you not, take off the grip and turn on the marker. Click the program button twice, your top light should be flashing red. Click the trigger until all lights are lit up. Turn off the Angel and turn it back on.
If you don't have paint, aftering turning it one give it a sec and hold down the trigger to turn off the eyes. Walk the trigger and see if it plays PSP ramping. If you do than it does not tell you how to tweak that in the stock user's manual. I would first read the manual for all the settings. PSP is fun, but you should be able to tweak the trigger and play as quick without it.
I play with an EGG with stock Y-board and it runs great, so you can upgrade to a Halo, but I wouldn't say it's a manditory need right away.
I've always been Anti-Angel but I can say, after the first weekend I played with it, I became all for it.... I had a leaky noid and still ripped people apart.

Al, I can see why they call you the Link master, but you still need to master quotes, LOL

I don't like to tighten the screws on the sides. Actually I put these 2 screws away. Is that ok to use the gun without these screws??

The vernier wheels will just flop around and might mess up your settings; I advise that you use the screws.

but they give some kind of hardness to the trigger which I don't like.
Is here anybody who uses trigger without screws?

This is true, they do seem to make the trigger more snappy. But that is the point. You should still leave them in, just not tight.

I have not noticed a change with the screw in.
But that's just me

If you want to see exactly what they do, remove the grip frame. Then you can watch the screws move the metal wedge into the wheel to prevent it from freely spinning.
If you are looking at it, you can screw it in far enough so the wheel will not be able to spin, but it will not be "seized" up by the screws. Thats how I set mine, and my trigger feels great.

From what I gather here I think it is V7, but can't get it to go into rampping, is this right? Do have paint, but haven't had a chance to fire any yet, so just dry with the eyes off, no warnings about not dry fireing unlike other markers.
How do I know if it has laser eyes, and if not are these a wirthwhile upgrade?
Anyone know what bore the standard barrel is?
Is there any brands, types of paint to avoid?

laser eyes will result in a red light, non-laser: no visible light. other than the 'cool effect' don't think there is any difference in them at all.
standard bore is something like .679. anybody else remember?
paint: in general you'll regret low quality paint. most important is to match paint to the bore. with a more expensive paint, you generally get consistency in the ball diameter.
don't have v7 so not sure but.... pretty sure that with eyes off you're limited to 18bps.

almost all of that is correct, except the standard bore is .689 :boink:
And I would like to point out my 400th post is me correcting Big Al! :)

Congrats on your 400th post, this is like, er, my 4th!
Are we sure about the barrel bore, seems kinda tight while I was lobbing some odd balls down it last night, also seem to ahe lost my sizing gauge ('spect i lent it to my buddy paul last time out, he looses everythin, no matter who it belongs to).
Have been looking at the Orbium 3 kit, if I could find anyone listing it (and willing to ship to UK), any ideas guys?

I just got a speed as well for an insane price. Just curious, did you get yours from the sale on amazon? thats where i got mine. My freinds all have shockers, i was about to get one too but couldnt pass up the opportunity to be different and own an angel. Stock it already feels as nice as their mad upped guns.

The old phrase comes to mind: "Angels only suck if you can't afford one."
That kind of died out when all these other guns showed up with the same price tag, but it seems to apply to the "bitter ion owners."
Keep her well tuned and she'll perform great for you.

No, I got mine from a local store (well sort of local) and the air from another about 5 miles further on. I wasn't looking for an Angel specifically but it was just too good to pass by, I nearly passed out when I saw the pirice of the air, so had to call them and have them put (the last one) aside for me.
I couldn't possibly say anything about Ion owners, their bottom lips would start trembeling

Is the only way I can describe my first outing with the speed. Slung 2 boxes of paint into people today at a walk on, I'm sure we would have rocked if it hadn't been for a bunch of bedwetters on our team, more interested in hiding in bushes thabn getting in the action. once I had the air and the gun set up on the chrono I was rocking, this deffo lays more paint than I have been able to before. In a field full of Ions and A5s with Flatlines it was only the Flatties that could keep me in place, otherwise it was point, pull and watch them go out or dive into a bunker! (I know the power of a Flattie, I have one too.)
Just one question, my bolt had a small grove in it, just in front of the pin, where it had been running up and down the edge of the guide, I replaced it with a new one as my gun was the obviously the store demo, now the new one has the same groove, should I be on to WDP or is this normal?
