I just bought a digital camcorder so I can take clips of my team and edit it all and post it to the internet and make some dvd's and such.
I bought it and the guy told me I needed a FireWire cable so I can be able to upload the visional and audio to my PC
I bought a Pinnacle system thing that had a port where I can plug my audio and visional up to it and then it hooks up to a 2.0 usb
Well, I had my computer built before the 2.0 usb was made, so I have a 1.1 usb port.
And I have had a 2.0 usb HUB for quite a long time.
So after I bought the Pinnacle system today, I come home and hook everything up..and when i hook up the camera the computer and the pinnacle program I have told me that I have hooked it up to a 1.1 usb port.
Which confuses me because its a 2.0 usb HUB that its hooked up to.
So I dont know what it was doing so I start looking around in the pinnacle program so I can adjust the settings. and I find something that says a DV.
I remembered something like that so I look on my camcorder and I see a port that says DV.
and I have my audio and visional wires hooked up to the AV port...because thats the only place it fits

Now here are my questions-
-Why is the HUB not working?
-Will I have to get a 2.0 usb installed into my computer, and how much will that cost?
-Is there a 'DV' wire I need to get?

-OR can someone tell me what ALL I need to get to get this thing up and running?

thanks for the help guys, im computer dumb

i'm not sure on a solution, but if u have to upgrade to 2.0 in order for it to work, u'd just need to pick up one of these and install it on ur motherboard http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=252076

USB 2.0 reverts to USB 1.1 when the original USB port on the PC is v 1.1

You can do several things. Install a PCI card that has USB 2.0 + firewire (ieee1394).

now your 2.0 Hub will work as a 2.0 hub with the added ability of FIREWIRE which I assume from your post is what the camera has. This is prefferred transfer media as opposed to USB.

check this one out

hope it helps.

but what is the hub for if it just reverts back to the 1.1?

as a HUB implies it acts as a central point to connect more devices. You use the hub to split one USB port to several others. You can continue doing this, connecting one hub to another and expand your device capability to about 128 or so devices running on one port with several hubs. with me still? same way Ohare can act as a hub for connecting flights from england to california for example.
