Hey guys, my brother bought a 2001 LCD Angel a year or two ago from someone and it has always been the most reliable gun on the field. Since we have owned it, its never once broken. However, while trying to play some paintball on December 31st, we ran into some trouble. The gun was fully charged two nights prior to the 31st, and the tank was filled to 2800psi about 4 nights prior. The battery meter showed a full charge and the tank had not lost any psi. The temperature was about 38 degrees, nothing out of the ordinary for Illinois. In fact we had used the gun in temperatures below 32 degrees without any problems, so I felt that wasnt the issue.
Onto the problem...sorry for the huge prelude, I just want you all to know the situation. The gun was gassed up, the on/off was turned in 1/4 of a turn more once the gun received the air. But when we put paint into the gun, the bolt/ram acted like it wasnt getting any air. It was half cycle the bolt and load a ball about halfway into the barrel, and then on the next shot it would cycle another ball at fulll speed and crush the ball that was in the barrel. If you kept a consistent rate of fire, the gun would be able to feed and fire just fine. If we let it sit for even a few seconds though, the bolt would half cycle again and then fire another ball at its true set velocity and make a huge mess.
I inspected the Freak barrel, and I also inspected the X-Ball paint. The bores matched perfectly, I could blow the ball through the insert with little effort. Whats the deal guys? Regulator need cleaning? Ram need serviced? Im stumped.
