View Full Version : Hyperball field Design...

I designed this 10-man hyperball field on autoCAD recently and figured I'de post it on here and see what you all think about it. All the bunkers are made of solid cylinders which represent hyperball tubing since I didn't have a hyperball material for my rendering program. All of the standup pieces are yellow and the laydown pieces are red. Also, look at the human models that I put in the drawing so you can get a sense of scale; they are roughly 6 feet tall.

Here's a plan view:

Here's a perspective from one end:

looks a little crowded even for 10 man....

I'm waiting for that board game to come out cuz then you can actually lay something like this out, and goof around with it

Here's a straightshot from above one of the starting gates. Look at the shooting lanes:

Do you mean that the whole field looks crowded or a section of it looks crowded? There are only 13 bunkers on each side of the field and then all the bunkers on the 50. I may agree with you that the 50 is a little crowded but I think that a crowded 50 can make for some intense closing of some games...

the whole field is too crowded

it just looks too cluttered to me.

first off, nice drawing. Second, take out the two back laydown that are at the -20. Then take out the center laydown w/ the two small standups next to it at the -40. Then the field wouldn't be cluttered like emmit said and it would be nice.

I like it

There's some massive open lanes on both sides. YOu need more tall bunkers where all the red laydowns are to cut down some of the lanes.
Cause with that field. I'd just run my 2 front guy's to their tapes & have the remaining 8 shoot those lanes since they're that open.
You could pick of alota people there.

I think it would make for a real fun game. Nice work.

looks great, i own a field and ran out of layouts ideas a long time ago, im getting a new 5 man airball setup from ron v at mo's. would you draw me up some layouts if i tell you which bunkers i get? thanks, brian

Looks good but you might want to take out the big ol 50 and put a smaller thing in there, or fix the laydowns at the 40s to tkae out some lanes.

cool field but seems expensive to build, id like to have some more higher bunkers around the tapes and such too, i dont want to have to lay down everywhere in the field

i think it looks great IMO....i say stick with that design and see what it brings...

hey im not trying to steal anything off u gadjr but do u think there is some way u can make that downloadable file so i can get a better view of it.

I say off the break, hit the 50 right up the gut...

There's no way for me to make it a functional downloadable file that you can manipulate by zooming in/out and roatating the camera unless you have AutoCAD 2000 or higher. All of the 3D modeling was done in AutoCAD and then I used a texturing program to "paint" it and make it look semi-real instead of wireframe. So, if there's a specific camera shot of the field you want, let me know and I'll try to rasterize a shot of the model and make a .jpg of it for you. It's hard to understand if you're not familiar with AutoCAD but basically, you can't just click and drag that image around as a 3D object and get different camera views.

And to everyone else, thanks for the input. I tried to design it with both types of players in mind. Us backplayers (yes, I'm a back player) like larger standups in the back or middle so we can see the whole field. While front guys usually like smaller, tighter bunkers that can break a game open if they're willing to crawl up them. I've drawn some other fields out, maybe I'll try to post them on here in the near future.

One last thing: If there are any rich field owners in here who want to build that field, feel free to, just send me a picture of it when you're done.

gadjr......glad that you kept the back guys in mind.....but what about us GIANTS? Being 6'5" nothing annoys me more than a field where all the bunkers are too short for me to stand up in.

Damn Emmit, you're one big dude! lol
Those standups in the back and near the 30 are like 8 feet tall and about 30" wide. And maybe I'm out of line here but not many backplayers end up on their stomaches, crawing down a snake in the middle of a game. Hell, they hardly even cross the 50 unless they're closing a game out and most of them shoot better off their shoulder, not while they're laying on the ground. lol

Replace a couple laydown's with kneeldowns, or smaller stand ups.......And it will be a great design. I personally think there is to many lay down's for my field choice...........
