you'll most likely have to do milling. I tried to put a g7 frame on an A4 Fly and the back screw hole was too far back.

have you tried just fitting the board in the speed frame first? then all you would need are new grips....
i have no idea if either will fit though, just a suggestion....

one problem with that...you can't push the buttons on the board...

The mounting holes on the board won't line up. The G7 frame is slightly shorter, that's also why some of the hybrid grips are the wrong length. I'll compare the 05 and G7 grip frames when I get home. If the holes line up, you would need the grip frame, board, and battery.

Oh, and don't call Ken until he gets back. He's out for personal reasons, probably wouldn't want to be disturbed. Check the admin section for details.

is the speed able to take the rechargable battery for the g7 board behind the lpr?
SpeedFreak05

is that where they put the batt, behind the lpr?

ya, for the 04 speed you do, i do not personnaly own a g7, but since its not 9v that seems like the only place for it

Yes, battery goes behind the lpr. There are two battery sizes, iR3 and earlier, and Speed and newer. The lpr used to be in front of the valve, and the entire left tube was the battery. When the lpr was moved, the battery was shrunk down to make room.
Unfortunately, my 05 is in LA, and I won't be up until the weekend. I can give you a definite answer then, if someone else doesn't beat me to it.

well, i didnt open up my speed to check, but there's nothing extra filling up the space in there so my guess would be that it should fit...

I do think it will, the G7 and 05 Speed are the same length, and all the other grip frames have had their holes with standard spacing.
One thought though, you will need to buy G7 eye covers. They do not extend out of the body and into the grip frame like the 05 and previous do. They sit flush with the body, allowing the front screw to be countersunk. Hmm, you will need an extra screw then too. It's the same length as the back one now.

wait, i looked at a pic of a g7 and 05, the eye covers look the same, would the grip frame really interfear with the standard 05 g7 eyes

The eye covers look the same from the outside. When you remove the grip frame, you'll notice that the 05 still has a slot milled out in the shape of the cops sensor(sensi). The eye covers extend down to fill this slot. The G7 frame does not have this cutout, and the eye covers are flush with the underside of the body. I'll post pics later today.

do you have a g7 as well as an 05?

Yep, and by comparing the two I will be able to give you that definite answer.

No problem. Here are pics of the eye cover on teh G7. They are flush with the body, and the grip frame has no slot milled out to make room for the older style covers.

maybe you should try the cobra frame, its cheaper and its cooler, and stuff.... and yeah....

ahhh i see what you mean about the eye covers, but couldnt i just snip any extra stuff off of my eye covers?

OK, here's the answer. It is not a drop in mod. You should be able to take a razor blade and trim the eye covers to be flush with the body. The bigger fitment issue is the valve retaining pin. The G7 uses smaller pins, so you would have to enlarge the hole on the gripframe to accomadate the thicker pin. When I tried putting the 05 Frame on the G7, the grip frame holes almost lined up, but were a little off. If you were to enlarge those very slightly, it would fit easily.
So if you feel like tinkering a bit, it can be made to work, but it is definitely not something you can just slap on there.

nadrepadre- while a cobra frame will fit the 05 speed, it does not have the milling in the trigger frame to use the 05 style trigger.
On the trigger note, notare was able to put a G7 Fly style trigger into his G7 without any problems, so you could try adding a new style trigger to your existing 05 frame.

-warpedx- I just called cobra b/c on thier site the pic has a hole on the side of the frame like the older angel A4 and Flies but when i talked to them they said that it wasn't the right pic for it but the 05 speed cobra frame doesn't have the holes and will accept the 05 drop-in triggers. Also being that the frame is between a 90 and a 45 it will only accept 90* grips.

umm could you post a pic of the pin hole that should be enlarged, also how should i enlarge it, also how would i make the screw holes bigger on the frame? and thanks a lot for all of the help
