i shoot an old school 2000 lcd bone stock and im having a problem busting paint in the barrel and i dont know whats wrong. i have a freak system (good paint/barrel match) so i know thats not it. it was cold outside <30 degrees and the field paint seemed really brittle but i have never had trouble out of it before. i was considering purchasing a soft face bolt or sending it off to get low pressure internals installed to alleviate the problem, and i was curious to hear others viewpoints. thanks in advance for the help.

a simple issue might be your hammer and how the bolt sits in it, if its too far forward it can cause chop cus its not traveling all the way back. had that issue on a lcd at the shop once.

but the soft face bolts help. only thing is i have to slightly modify the pin that goes into my SS hammer cuz its a wee bit too small lol

I'd say alot of the problems you are having are related to the coldness [causing brittle paint].

ya, thats what i figured but i have to play through the winter so i figured the soft face bolt might help. i also considered getting low pressure components installed but i know nothing about that...i dont even recall what the operating pressure is on my angel.

also ive heard that some of the freak tips can turn into cheese graters, just like feel around the inside on the porting and see if it has an edge or not.

so would the soft face bolt be a good option?

It would help. It might not fix the problem 100% but it would help.
